What is rock music?

I'm sure a lot of people have different opinions about this. Here is the general internet definition of rock music.

Rock: originally known as rock and roll, now simply known as rock music. It is a type of popular music that has evolved from the rock and roll, pop music of the 1950s. Some rock music takes its roots from blues or R&B music. Lyrics in songs of this genre can include anti-establishment references, drug activity, promiscuity or musical experimentation.
