-Snoop Dogg is arrested for possessing a firearm at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, Calif. A  20 inch baton was found in his laptop case.

-Record producer Phil Spector is indicted on charges of murder. He is alleged to have killed actress Lana Clarkson in his L.A. home in 2003

-Great White drummer Derrick Pontier is hurt in a car crash in Allentown, Pa. He was heading to a gig benefitting victims of Rhode Island club fire where 100 people died during a Great White show
-You're So Vain singer Carly Simon sues New York's Dakota Building, saying they rejected her application to live there, but kept a $99,000  down payment.

-Atlanta declares today ZZ Top Day. The band is actually from El Paso, Texas

-A strange footnote to the career of Ringo Starrr makes the news as Rory Storm takes his own life. Since Ringo was originally the drummer for Rory Storm and the Hurricanes before he joined The Beatles in 1962, at the time the group was said to be the best in Liverpool, England
