August 7, 1964: The Beatles come to America and kickstart the time known as the 'British Invasion', which would result in a flood of British singers and British pop/rock bands coming from England to America with the hopes of striking fame like The Beatles.
Feb. 21, 1965: Malcolm X is murdered in New York
Oct. 2, 1967: Thurgood Marshall is sworn in as the first black Supreme Court Justice.
Dec. 6, 1969: Altamont Speedway stabbing. The Hells Angels were there providing security for The Rolling Stones, who were giving a free concert there, when an 18 year old named Meredith Hunter forced his way onto stage and threatened the band with a gun. Hells Angel Alan Passaro then stabbed him. It was also rumored that the Hells Angels had a hit out on Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger's life.

March 16, 1968: My Lai massacre. Lt. William Calley and his soldiers attack the Vietnamese hamlet of My Lai. They murdered between 347 and 504 civilians, many of them were women, who were raped, tortured, and mutilated.
July 3, 1969: Rolling Stones guitarist Brian Jones dies from drowning. The Rolling Stones dedicate their 1969 Hyde Park concert to him.
