-English rock band formed in 1969 by members of the Small Faces- Ian McLagan(keyboards), Ronnie Lane(bass), Kenney Jones(drums, percussion)- were joined by Ronnie Wood(guitar), Rod Stewart(vocals), both from the Jeff Beck Group
-New lineup was named Faces.
-They released 4 studio albums and toured regularly until the autumn of 1975, although Stewart alos pursued a solo career and during the band's final year, Wood also toured with The Rolling Stones, with whom he later joined.
-In May 2010, Faces talked of plans to reform with Simply Red vocalist Mick Hucknall
-On Dec. 7, 2011, it was announced they were to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with the Small Faces
History
-The first band among these guys was called Quiet Melon, which featured Ronnie Wood's older brother Art Wood.
-With the addition of Wood and Stewart, the band renamed themselves Faces. The "small" part was dropped because the 2 newcomers were quite tall, Ronnie Wood was 5'8'' and Rod Stewart was 5'9''.
-As Rod Stewart's solo career started off, the band felt overshadowed by this.
Post-Faces
-Wood joined The Rolling Stons as a full member after Mick Taylor up and quit
Influence on music
-Their only real rivals were that of The Who and The Rolling Stones, Faces enjoyed alot of influence on later rock music.
