Now you can build your very own Ed Force One!
That's right! You read it correctly. The Boeing 757 for Maiden is the envy of almost all bands. Mostly because one of the pilots is also the band's frontman, Bruce Dickinson. But for those die hard Up the Irons fans, you can now own a miniature model of the legendary jet.
Legendary model company Revell made an announcement that they would indeed be creating a 1:144 scale model of Ed Force One. It would be modeled after the plane's design that they used during their 2008 Somewhere Back in Time tour. For those unaware, each time the band goes out on a new tour, the plane gets redone with artwork from that specific album, i.e. Powerslave (Egyptian theme), The Book of Souls (Mayan theme), Somewhere in Time (sci-fi theme), etc.
"Our 1:144 scale model of Ed Force One will bring something new, as well as fun to Civil Aviation Model Kit genre,” said Revell’s Thomas Randrup. “We are looking forward to a successful cooperation with Global Merchandising and Iron Maiden on this 2016 new product release".
"As soon as we knew that Bruce would be piloting the plane for Iron Maiden’s world tour, we knew that we had to do something special to celebrate the occasion, and Revell are an obvious partner for this fantastic collaboration,” said GMS licensing manager Jens Drinkwater. “Their model kits have been a synonym for plastic modeling for over 60 years, and this detailed model of Ed Force One will appeal to both traditional builders and hobbyists as well as the dedicated Iron Maiden fan base".
