Jersey Shore: WTF?

What exactly is everyone's obsession with this show? Yeah, they're Italian, they're also showing off alot and I mean ALOT of bad Italian stereotypes!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jersey_Shore_(TV_series)

The Wikipedia description
-American reality TV show that premiered on Dec. 3, 2009
-Follows the lives of 8 housemates spending their summer at the Jersey Shore in the state of New Jersey
-Season 2 had them going to Miami
-Season 4 was in Italy
-This was somehow dubbed an icon
-In 2011, the show came under fire for it's use of the word Guido/Guidette, which could be considered offensive to the nearly 75%+ Italian population of New Jersey. This show came under fire for exhibiting too many Italian stereotypes as well, and also because the cast members are not locals or residents of the area
Now, My description
-Stupid reality show that takes place on the Jersey Shore in the awesome state of New Jersey
-4 overly tanned, overly slutty Italian chicks named Jenni 'J-Woww', Nicole 'Snooki', Sammi 'Sweetheart' Angelina Pivarnick
-3(I'm leaving out Vinny. I don't watch the show, but I think he's cute!) overly tan, overly tattooed, overly muscular Italian dudes named Mike 'The Situation', Pauly 'Pauly D', Ronnie Ortiz, and Vinny Guadganino. Now, personally, the only 2 that I think are probably halfway decent are Vinny and Ronnie. They look sweet, loving. If I could find a sweetie like either one of these 2, then ok.
-Season 4 in Italy, and Season 2 in Miami
-Overly tanned, overly slutty and overly tattooed guys and chicks making all Italians look bad, with the 'Italian Stallion' stereotype, flirty, exotic woman stereotype, and making all Italian guys look like they all have one thing on the mind and that Italian chicks are going to blow anything that moves and have an Oompa-Loompa tan. Well, guess what, you non-Italian fakers? I have a stepdad who is waaaaaaaaaaaay more Italian than you. And at least the light tan he has is real, it's called olive skin, not spray tan!

Media
Controversy
Prior to the show's debut, UNICO National, The National Italian American Foundation(NAF), the Order of the Sons of Italy in America, the Italian internet watch-dog http://www.ItalianAware.com and other Italian American organizations requested MTV cancel the show, calling it a "direct, deliberate and disgraceful attack on Italian American." The UNICO president Andre DiMino said in a statement that "MTV has decorated the brothel-like house with Italian flags and red, white and green maps of New Jersey while every other shot is of Italian signs and symbols. They are basically bashing Italian-Americans with every shot possible".
MTV responded back by basically saying that the cast takes pride in their Italian heritage, and what really is stupid is that Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi is not even 1 quarter Italian. She is actually Chilean-born and an Italian couple named Polizzi adopted her, that's why everyone is convinced of her Italian roots

-According to Dr. Seth Forman, a dermatologist from Tampa, Flor. The show has glamorized the need for tanning. "The young adults on Jersey Shore think tanned skin is important. Some even own their own tanning bed... it's ridiculous. I don't think young adults know how much damage they are doing to their skin."

Stereotyping
-A columnist at the New York Post named Linda Stassi criticized MTV, saying that Jersey Shore is a show "in which Italian-Americans are sterotyped into debasing and degrading themselves, and by extension, all Italian-Americans- and furthering the popular TV notion that all Italian-Americans are gel-haired, thuggish ignoramuses with fake tans, no manners, no diction, no taste, no education, no sexual discretion, no hairdressers, no real knowledge of Italian culture and no ambition beyond expanding steroid and silicone enhanced bodies into sizes best suited for floating over Macy's on Thanksgiving,"

Protest Against Jersey Shore
-Seaside Heights Borough officials have been distancing themselves from the sho.
-Most people who watch the show are completely oblivious to the fact that the majority of the cast coms from New York. As a result of this, out of towners assme that New Jerseyans are all like 'Jersey Shore'. And even New Jersey governor Chris Christie has spoken out against the show.

Here's my advice: if you want to watch something out of New Jersey that's Italian, go with The Sopranos or if reality is your game, I got ya covered. Try Cake Boss. It's similar to Jersey Shore, except no slutty broads. It's about an Italian family run bakery in Hoboken, N.J.Or
