Top 15 Tribute Bands

Here are some bands who can rock out the classics when those rock heroes aren't available
Australian Pink Floyd Show
-Obviously, you know whose music these guys cover. These guys have dug a serious career out for themselves, almost exactly duplicating the complex lighting rigs, and their music. If their wish was to meet the actual Pink Floyd, their wish was granted, as they were asked to play at David Gilmour's 50th birthday party

Zoso
-Led Zeppelin cover band. It's been said many times, many ways that Led Zeppelin is the all-time influence on almost every rock band out there. But, it's difficult to copy Robert Plant's wailing stage vocals and Jimmy Page's impressive guitar riffs. These guys have been able to proudly claim their title as the ultimate Led Zeppelin tribute band.  They are able to accurately capture the tight, but loose spirit of the band and also the music

Live Wire
-AC/DC tribute band. Live Wire, based out of New York, these guys have come very close to sounding like the real, authentic Australian rockers, playing on three continents, being on CBS This Morning and even getting their music on XM satellite radio. They are the only and I mean ONLY AC/DC tribute band to be featured on the real AC/DC's official site, as well as their Facebook page

The Atomic Punks
-These guys pay homage to early Van Halen, as in David Lee Roth, not Sammy Hagar, which in my opinion, is a little sad and a little offensive because Sammy Hagar was the front man too, not just David Lee Roth. It's said these guys are the best in Van Halen music, sometimes even better than the real band. Michael Anthony has jammed on stage with them

Strutter
-Kiss cover band. Aptly named after the song of the same name, Strutter formed in 1988, during the period of Kiss' no makeup, pop era. This band has spent more than 20 years recreating the sound, look of Kiss

Just Like Priest
-Judas Priest cover band. These guys are a tribute band from Southern California that take their name from a remark from their first show, when an audience member said "I don't know who you are, but you sound just like Priest." The name fits, as front man Frank Casciato hits those wailing, high pitched vocals like Rob Halford himself. While guitarists Kevin Pittsey and Brian Olsen play "Dueling Guitars" just like K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton themselves

Day 8: 8 Things That Annoy You

Wow, this could mean anything. Here are 8 things that annoy me

Drama on Facebook
-Okay, everyone has those people they're friends with that tend to put whatever is on their mind onto Facebook, feeling that everyone should know what they did over the weekend, so on and so forth. But, sometimes it gets out of control, especially with issues like baby drama. Back then, when someone said "I'm pregnant", you were like "Oh my God, congratulations. When are you due? Are you having a boy or girl?" Nowadays, it's like "wow, she's pregnant too? Is there something going around making all these chicks knocked up?" Nobody needs to know about who's got a new baby daddy

Stupid people
-Here's what this means. People who act completely and utterly ignorant. I swear to God there must be a new layer above the Earth, that I call "The Bozone Layer", meaning that is what makes people stupid

Weirdoes talking to me
-For some God forsaken reason, every time I'm out, somehow a weirdo starts talking to me. When I'm waiting for the bus downtown to come home, I have some homeless guy trying to bum money off me. I think "Dude, I don't even have money for myself, and you want ME to give YOU money? No way, Jack!" Either that or I have a homeless woman trying to get me to buy her a hotdog. And it's worse on the bus! When I'm on the bus going to school or going somewhere, a weirdo starts talking to me. I must have a way with people...

Racism/Discrimination
-Well, from the various posts on stereotypes, racism and discrimination I've done over the past years, everyone knows my stand on this topic. I HATE RACISM AND DISCRIMINATION! I don't understand stereotypes; not everyone in England will be snooty and have bad teeth; not everyone of Asian descent owns a laundromat and knows martial arts; not every black person will be on welfare and be a pimp, drug dealer or some kind of criminal; not every Italian is going to be connected to the mob. I hate when people stereotype others

The Twilight Series
-I don't get why people like these movies. Disney/Pixar made a better love movie in the movie Up than that fugly chick Kristen Stewart did in all the Twilight movies. And nothing against that actor who plays the vampire dude, he is not that sexy. Alex O'Loughlin played one sexy vampire on Moonlight, strangely named Mick for some odd reason, Gerard Butler was a sexy Dracula in Dracula 2000.

Football
-I mean American football, by the way, for those who read this that are from Europe :D. I really don't get American football. What's so great about it? A bunch of guys in tight clothes running around trying to get a ball? Not my idea of sports. I may not play them, but I would rather play soccer than anything. The only thing holding me back is my lungs are not very strong. After years of living with my dad, who was a smoker, my lungs are probably as black as Gavin Rossdale's hair or as yellow as the sun, which is not good at all. I get out of breath quickly, even when I'm trying to work out to burn calories
Commercials showing skinny people
-Wow, as if these commercials don't already advertise eating disorders. Do these commercials even realize the effect they are having on young girls? These commercials for diet pills, saying things like "it's great to be thin" or showing women in skin tight clothing who are bone thin, that's not good. That is going to give young girls the idea that if they do not have the perfect body, with perfect boobs or a perfect rear, that if they are not tall, tan, skinny, with perfect hair, that they are nothing. And in order to look like that, they must starve or work out obsessively

Gossip Magazines
-Magazines like OK, People, Entertainment Weekly, etc. They all drive me bonkers because of the garbage they print on the front. They all seem to have the same things anymore. Stories of "he said, she said" arguments of who's cheating who, who got married, who got divorced, who's having a baby, etc. Anymore, it seems like Jennifer Aniston is making the mags cover more than anyone. I'm so glad I don't read them. Most of the time, the mags I read are the same ones my mom reads, Family Circle because they have good articles on different stuff, AllYou because they have healthy food recipes that sound freakin' awesome, and when it does come to entertainment, I'll read Rolling Stone because they always talk about the latest in music and pop culture history.

Facebook for Hire!

Yeah, the title should attract attention. While I was in class on Tuesday looking at different social networking sites, the teacher for the class informed us that some employers hire people based on what is on their Facebook account. Personally, this is ridiculous, no employer should hire someone based on what is on their Facebook account. What an employer should hire someone because of is how they work with others, their qualifications or something else, not a Facebook account. I mean, I have an account and if an employer were to look at mine, they'd see that I'm a music lover, because most of the stuff on my Facebook page have to do with music, like announcements for Rihanna going on tour, U2 going on tour, Paul McCartney going on tour, the Beatles releasing an album, etc. I personally think it's stupid that some employers would hire you because of what is on a social networking site that you use. Because when we looked at Facebook accounts, I'm pretty sure everyone in the world has seen mine and they pretty much know that I'm a  music lover because of all the music tour announcements, album releases, etc. But I just think it's stupid that some people would do that, it's almost an invasion of privacy, I mean, on Facebook, you can say just about anything and that some people who hire would look at one's account and see something like someone talking about partying or something, that might make the person hiring a little hesitant to hire.

What I think an employer SHOULD look at is what that person can bring to the table, their skills, if they can work well with others, their qualifications, what they can do, their interests or something, my dad has a friend who is a Graphic Designer and he told me he thought that it was ridiculous that some people hire based on what one has on a social networking site. He said that most should hire because of skills/qualifications. And if Denise reads this, I'm totally with her on the whole Facebook issue, no employer should hire a person based on what is on a social site like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc.

Personally, If I'm going to look for a job, I'm just going to keep the same Facebook account that I currently have, if you ever see mine, there is never usually anything dirty on it, most of the stuff on my wall is stuff pertaining to the Breast Cancer Foundation, I'm a strong believer in there being a cure for breast cancer, it runs in my family, happy joy!, Shriner's Hospital is on my wall, I believe in kids getting miracles, a-lot of the stuff on my wall is charity and good stuff and music tour dates, music album releases, musician announcements, etc and just friends talking, but unfortunately, most of the friends I have on there like to talk dirty and I usually tell them I don't talk like that and they just keep on doing it!

Just thought I'd make my text green because of the rapidly approaching Christmas holidays. And thank the Good Lord I have my Christmas shopping done. I swear, I never knew shopping for family would be so hard, I have my sister taken care of, I bought her a blanket of this cartoon character she likes, called Invader Zim, and a book about this athlete she likes, Apolo Ohno, I bought my dad a movie,The Expendables, he loves all those exploding action movies, I bought my mom a book about the topic of Organized Crime, she finds in interesting, I bought my step-father a set of model race cars, he's a major fan of all those car races, like the Le Mans, Indy 500, etc. So hopefully, they love their gifts, I care about family and just wanted to give them something they like.
