There are rumors swirling in the Purple camp that their upcoming tour, dubbed the "Long Goodbye Tour" might be among their last
The legendary band behind some of the biggest hits in rock- "Black Night", "Strange Kind of Woman", "Burn", "Smoke on the Water", "Highway Star" and others are already lining up dates for 2017. This could be the last of the tours for this legendary rock band
This tour is scheduled to start Nov. 17 and run through to 2018, with tickets going on sale Dec. 9. There are five dates in the UK on the roster, they are: 11/17-Barclaycard Arena Birmingham, 11/18-Manchester Arena, 11/20-Cardiff Motorpoint Arena, 11/22-SSE Hydro Glasgow, 11/23-The O2, London. Ironically, it will mark 50 years this band has been around, which is a huge checkpoint in a band's career, especially considering there are quite a few bands celebrating 50 years or 40 years of rocking out. This is something to celebrate, being relevant in rock for nearly 50 years!
Previously, Ian Paice, the band's iconic drummer, who has been the only constant member throughout the repeated changes in lineup, was diagnosed with a mini-stroke during last summer when he reported that he woke up and couldn't feel the right side of his body. While he recovered, Deep Purple had to cancel shows, which is a first for Ian Paice
If this really is the case, then it seems they are going out on a VERY HIGH note. They are currently working on their 20th studio album, Infinite, due to release sometime next year
I'm a girl born in the wrong decade. I belong in the 1960s or the 1970s in my opinion. I bleed tie dye, my theme music is anything 1960s rock or 1970s rock or metal. I'm a hippie through and through. But also a hippie who loves old metal music. I believe that violence never solves anything, so why resort to it to solve problems? With all the wars the world has seen, there should be a clue somewhere in there!
