Did You Know?

-In an interview, Timothy Dalton stated why he made this Bond film much darker. He wanted to take the character back to the one of the Ian Fleming novels, where Bond was a darker, rougher agent than the one shown in the other films

-In the same interview, he denied claims of sex scenes being reduced in the films due to the rising AIDS epidemic. In a 2007 interview, he admitted it was true

-Benicio Del Toro was the youngest actor to play a villain. He was 21 at the time

-In the scene with the exploding tanker, that really was Timothy Dalton running away, not a stunt double

-Wayne Newton had always wanted to star in a Bond film. He managed to get the role of Professor Joe Butcher only after he had sent a letter to the producers expressing interest

-While on the set of the 1994 TV show Scarlett, Timothy Dalton handed in his official resignation from the role on April 11, 1994

-Pam Bouvier's alias Ms. Kennedy was a nod to Jacqueline Kennedy, whose maiden name was Bouvier

-This was the first Bond film to score a PG-13 rating due to violent content. It had been trying to keep up with other 80s violent content films, such as 1987's Lethal Weapon and 1988's Die Hard

-During filming in Mexico, Timothy Dalton started getting homesick

-Carey Lowell described herself as not being a "glamour girl". She said she had "huge shoes to fill" as a Bond girl and even showed up wearing jeans and a leather jacket to audition

-To accurately portray Sanchez, Robert Davi researched Colombian drug cartels and how to do a Colombian accent. He even stayed in character off set.

-Diane Hsu, a former Playboy Playmate, played Hong Kong Narcotics agent Loti

-The only time in all of the films where James Bond orders a Budweiser beer with a lime at the Barrelhead Bar

-This is said to be one of the most Americanized of the Bond movies. Most of the locations were in and around North America. Other than Bond, M, Q, Miss Moneypenny, most of the cast is American, including the Bond girls

-Years later, Talisa Soto would go on to marry Benjamin Bratt, of Law & Order fame

-Carey Lowell is the only actress, known for Law & Order, to play a Bond girl

-This is Diane Hsu's film debut

-In the scene where James Bond is hanging by hook over a cocaine grinder, Benicio Del Toro's character is cutting him loose and in the process, he cut Timothy Dalton's hand. Filming had to be stopped momentarily while Dalton had his hand stitched up
