On Dec. 11, 1968, the Stones filmed the Rock N' Roll Circus. They were not the only ones there to perform either. Marianne Faithfull, The Who, along with a supergroup consisting of John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Jimi Hendrix guitarist Mitch Mitchell called the Dirty Mac, Jethro Tull, who released their debut album 6 weeks earlier.
This concert was a creative idea from Mick Jagger to release their recent album, Beggar's Banquet. Jethro Tull played here. In the film for this, future Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi can be seen playing with Jethro Tull. He only played here once
The Who completely blew the Stones away. And not to mention, it was also the last time anyone would see Brian Jones perform. 6 months after the show was filmed, he drowned to death
