The Calendar Girls

The Calendar Girls
Summary
-Chris Harper and Annie Clarke are two middle aged friends living in Knapely, in Yorkshire County. They represent the Yorkshire chapter of the Women's Institute, whose motto is "enlightenment, fun, friendship". After Annie's husband dies of leukemia, she wants to donate the money from the calendars they do to a local Yorkshire hospital. So they decide to make the next calendar a little risqué and do pictures of nude members of the Women's Institute. This idea comes from the idea that sex sells

When she goes to see Ursula, the Sea Witch, about how to go and see the humans, Ursula has other plans

Did You Know?
-Christopher Daniel Barnes was only 16 years old when he recorded his voice for Eric. The producers felt and heard his voice sounded much older than he really was
-Pat Carroll, who voiced Ursula, modeled her voice after Tallulah Bankhead and Maurice Evans
-The first Disney fairy tale since Sleeping Beauty
-Ariel's body type and personality were based on Alyssa Milano. The effect of her hair underwater was based on footage of astronaut Sally Ride in zero gravity
-Ursula has six tentacles and two human arms, which can classify her as an octopus
-When Ariel is singing "Part of Your World" in her grotto there is a bust of Abraham Lincoln
-Originally, Sebastian was supposed to have an English accent. Instead, he was given a Jamaican accent, which suggested some calypso-themed songs, like "Under the Sea"

Day 2: Things You Wish You Could Do

Things I wish I could do? Wow, that could mean anything. It's supposed to be 2, but there's a lot I really want to do to just choose 2

One thing I really wish I could do is study abroad. If I had the money, I'd go to either Australia, because it's warm and sunny, and when not in class, be down at Bondi Beach working on my tan, trying to clear the acne I'm trying to rid myself of, reading a book. London. People say it's cold and rainy, not really sure about the rainy part. Every time I see it, looks just fine. The fashion is kinda cool,  they wear pinstripe suits, at least the guys do, and they all look so handsome in their suits and ties, and the women all look so pretty in their suits and dresses. And when not in class, I'd be trying to catch a soccer game, hopefully the Arsenal Gunners would be playing, and if not them, maybe the Tottenham Hotspurs. I guess I somehow developed a love of English soccer from my stepdad. And who knows? I might see a British barrister in their white wig and robe walking down the street to the Old Bailey to go back to trial? Who knows what I'd see? I'd get excited at just being there in general!! If you read this and you're from England, you'll probably laugh at my excitement. I'm the kind of person who finds the biggest excitement in the smallest things

I would say drive. But that's already in progress. Wish 1, almost done. Just gotta pass my test, which I feel confident that, after some major practice, I can pass. Maybe not first time, but pass none the less
IDK why, this picture kinda makes me laugh. I think it's a car from England called a Reliant K or something along those lines. They have 1 wheel in the front and tip over easily. They did an experiment with that on Top Gear once. Also, this kind of car is the one Mr. Bean keeps knocking over on the show
Get a really cool job. To be almost the envy of most people from high school. I'd love nothing more than to have any one of these jobs:
Video Game Designer. I'm hoping to go to school for this
Nurse. Maybe this? I've always been interested in medicine
Criminal Justice. With all the law shows I watch, like Law and Order: UK, Criminal Minds, The First 48, maybe it's a sign?

Go to a freakin' concert!! I'm dying to go see an actual concert. Preferably rock. And if I can have the money and maybe a car by the time either July or August rolls around, it might happen. Rush is supposed to be coming here on their 2013 Clockwork Angels tour, and I plan on seeing them live!! These photos below are pretty much all the peopel I would loooooooooooooove to see in concert!!

To Be Here Right Now...

As you can probably no doubt guess from this post, where I am, it's freeze your butt off cold!! I'm sitting in the computer room of my house right now and my hands are close to numb! That is not supposed to happen!! Well, hopefully it will warm up soon. And to keep those thoughts in my head, this is where I'd love to be right now!! Somewhere warm and sunny, with a beautiful beach, the sound of the waves rushing up on shore and a nice, good book that I haven't read yet, laying on the beach, soaking up the sun, reading!!

Hi Everybody!! I'm Back from Vacation!

Hi everyone. I know it's been about a week since I posted last, but lately, I was on vacation with my family. As you may have read in some of my last posts, my family was planning to go to Mexico. Now, if I can figure out how to upload the photos I took, I can show you of the random stuff we did down there.

Anyway, we just got back into town last night around 6 or 7pm. We ended up having sandwiches from this local place called Penn Station for dinner while we all unpacked. The vacation was great. We took lots of photos, my sister made friends with a couple bartenders/waiters down there, named Alejandro and Yves. The second one, Yves, made her a little grasshopper out of palm leaves and grass. And as for me, never really talked to anyone. Heard alot of great and cool accents though. I did meet alot of interesting people. At the bar, I met a cute guy from Germany. He was blond and had a cute accent. I also seen and heard 2 English couples. They always sat at the same seats near us at the pool. It was an older English couple and a younger English couple. I almost laughed when I heard one of them say 'bloody'. Also, I seen a really cute scuba diving instructor named Sebastian. He was blond and had the sexiest accent ever: English, or Australian!! He was a hot, blond English or Australian scuba instructor. Either way, his accent was gorgeous!!!! And omg, he had the nicest smile!! I was melting already. Unfortunately, I didn't go scuba diving, fear of deep water, and not like 5-10 feet, I mean like ocean deep, deep water where sharks are.

We also tried alot of new drinks, mostly alcoholic. Hey, you gotta try new things. And I did. I tried chocolate mudslide, pina colada, something called a Caribbean Dream and a strawberry daiquiri. Yeah, I sound like some kind of alcoholic in the making, but believe me, I'm not. My sister, who is 19, was downing more drinks than me. Because something that not alot of people realize is that the legal drinking age in Mexico is 16. When she heard that, wow! She was doing shots, including a local one called the Bandera, which is Spanish for flag, It's served in a tall, skinny shooter glass and has red sangria, clear tequila and what I think may be green apple liqueur in it.

Any who, that was my first trip outside the US. I'm hoping for my next trip outside the US to be to either London, China, Japan, Australia

One More Week, Just One More Week Until...

I go on vacation

Yup, that's right! I'm going on vacation!!!! My first trip outside the US. I thought this day would never come. Well, maybe this is the start I need to visiting places outside the US! Well, I've already decided that my 2nd major trip outside the US is going to be to London. IDK what it is about this city that fascinates me so, but I just really wanna see it.

I'm going here! To Cancun, Mexico. And to make my trip better, the hotel my family was originally supposed to stay in is somehow under construction, so we got an upgrade- to jr. suites!! My sister went nuts for that, especially after finding out the room has a big screen TV, so she can watch cartoons in Spanish. And another thing, since me and my sis are in a room by ourselves, we get our own beds. Hehe, sweet! Whenever I've gone on family vacations before, me and my sis always had to share a bed, and believe me, that's not fun. She does what I call "spread eagling" , where she spreads out and takes up the bed. And before I know it, I have some part of her boyd on me, whether it be her arm across my throat or something. And also, since we already paid for the vacation, we don't need to pay for the upgrade. And, whew! That's good too, considering it's $1600 a person. Forget that! I'm glad we paid in advance! I'm going on a much needed vacation!! The first thing Im doing when I get down there is go and find some authentic Mexican food, try an authentic, Mexican-made taco, omg, it's gonna taste sooooooooooooooooooo good!!

Summertime!!!!

Woo-hoo!! It's getting closer to Summer!! One of my fave seasons. It's the time for ice cream and popsicles, laying out and getting tan, going to the beach, going on vacations, summer rock concerts, and just being outside. It really makes me wish I could have been born in the summer instead of the fall. I have nothing against the falls season, but it's so dreary and cold outside. I thrive outside, I have a need to be out in the warm and sunshine!!!

Travel

You ever find yourself looking thru a magazine and seeing a picture of a beautiful place and saying to yourself "I wish I was there". Well, I'm guilty of that. If that were a crime, I'd be on death row for it, lol. There are tons of places I'd love to see b4 I leave this world. I'll add the pics later, the computer I'm on sucks! Here are some of them:

China

  • Great Wall/Beijing. I've been interested in seeing this place since actually 2nd grade! Wow!
  • Museum of the Terra-Cotta Warriors in Lintong, Xian, Shaanxi Province. Chinese history has always been my thing!
  • Forbidden City/Beijing. Just once I'd love to see all the cool places in China and this is one of them
  • Tianenmen Square/Beijing. I'd like to see this place because it sounds interesting. With places like Monument to the People's Heroes, Tianenmen Tower and Great Hall of the People, it has to be awe inspiring.
  • Summer Palace/Haidian District. It has what is called a typical Chinese garden overflowing with lovely and beautiful plants. With me having a green thumb and a love of all things green and healthy, gotta see it!
Japan

  • Mount Fujiyama. In alot of my previous art classes, when we were asked to do a painting or picture and we got to choose the content, I, for some unknown reason, always gravitated towards something of Asian ancestry, whether it be a picture of the Summer Palace at Yihehuan, which I think is the name for the area around it, or Mount Fujiyama in Japan. All I know is this place is a very beautiful location and I want to see it!
  • Ginza. Here you can see authentic Japanese theatre and arts, either Kabukiza Theatre or Shinbashi Enbujo, either one giving you an authentic taste of real Japanese theatre and performing arts. Oh yeah, I'm up for that!
  • Asakusa. Has all the charm of Japan from long ago, buy yourself traditional Japanese items and foods. Cool!
  • Imperial Palace-East Garden. With me having a good green thumb, and love of plants, I'd love to see this!
Italy
  • The Coliseum/Rome
  • Trevi Fountain/Rome
  • Rialto Bridge/Venice
  • Palazzo Vecchio/Florence
England
  • Abbey Road Studios. With me being a big Beatles fan, I'd sure love to see where they made their music.

  • I'd get 3 more people I know who like the Beatles and I'd go there with them and we'd re-create the Abbey Road image to pay respect to the Beatles.
  • Tate Modern. If this is an art museum, I'm okay with that. I've always had a love of art.
  • London Bridge. cool looking

Australia
  • Queensland Zoo. Pay my respects to Steve Irwin, better known as the Crocodile Hunter.
  • This is why I'd visit this place, to pay my respect to Steve Irwin, aka, The Crocodile Hunter. He was too young to die.
  • Sydney Opera House.
  • Ayers Rock. Northern Territory. It's cool and I wonder if it's bigger than in the pics I've seen?
  • National Gallery of Australia. It's an art museum, sweet! I loooooooooove art!
  • Sydney Harbour
  • Bondi Beach. Lay out and relax, maybe see Hugh Jackman there, lol? Man he's hot!

  • Great Barrier Reef/Queensland. I hear it's a  lovely site
  • Lightning Ridge. Go mining for opals, my birthstone!
New York
  • Empire State Building, I'd love to go to the top and see all of New York from up there.
  • Statue of Liberty. I'd love to see it because I'd get those thoughts running thru my head saying "This is what the immigrants first saw when they entered the US all those years ago."
  • Ellis Island Immigration Center. I'd love to see this place because all the immigrants came here and became US citizens
  • Museum of Modern Art. What can I say? I'm an art nut.
  • Museum of Jewish Heritage. I'm part Jewish, so that explains alot, it has to do with the Holocaust. That particular topic has always fascinated me.
  • The Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum. I'm a fan of the books they released.
  • Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. I wanna see who they have wax figures of.
