History
-Despite success in the 1970s and early 1980s, the late 80s were an ultimate low point for English football because stadiums were crumbling, supporters had poor facilities, vandalism and general trouble was high and English clubs were banned from European competitions for 5 years following the events at Heysel in 1985.
-In 1990, England was successful at reaching the semi-finals in the 1990 FIFA World Cup.
