-Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Hamme collapses during concert in Hamburg, Germany.
-Green Day's Boulevard of Broken Dreams wins Video of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards.
- Tech-grunge band Garbage pull their European tour, they don't go

2004
-50 Cent and his G-Unit posse are booed offstage at England's Reading Festival. One fan even throws a folding chair at the stage

2003
-Radiohead's Thom Yorke joins R.E.M on stage in Vancouver to perform E-Bow the Letter and It's the End of the World As We Know It. The following night Michael Stipe sings Karma Police with Radiohead at same venue
-Appearing on NY radio station Q104.3, Mets catcher Mike Piazza plays IRS, a song from the new Guns N Roses album Chinese Democracy
- Songs from the albums Kill 'Em All and The Thing That Should Not Be get played for a Metallica fan club-only show at New York's Bowery Ballroom

- Slipknot celebrate wins for Best Single and Best International Live Act by smashing their glasses, attacking one another, and setting fire to their table. Presenter Britt Ekland breaks an ankle as she approaches stage to present Marilyn Manson with Lifetime Achievement Award for Music

- In Chicago, Elton John enters rehab to fight bulimia, booze and drugs.

-Los Lobos top American singles chart with their cover of the Ritchie Valens hit La Bamba, to be used for the movie of the same name starring Lou Diamond Philips as the Latino rocker

-3 people are arrested after trying to disinter Elvis Presley's body from it's resting place in Memphis.

-Blues musician Jimmy Reed dies in Oakland, CA

-The Kinks' song Lola, an ode to a transvestite, is released. The single goes to #9

-The Beatles perform their final concert for a paying audience, impressing San Francisco's Candlestick Park with 11 songs, in half hour. Playing along with the Beatles are The Cyrkle, The Ronettes, The Remains. The last song to be played is Little Richard's Long Tall Sally played by the Fab Four

-According to today's issue of Billboard magazine, guitar sales are at an all time high in America and Britain, since 1957, when Elvis sparked it an interest in the instrument

-George Harrison, John Lennon and Paul McCartney perform at the Casbah Coffee Club in Liverpool after Les Stewart Quartet have argument and refuse to play.
