-English actress best known for playing Martha Jones, former friend of 10th Doctor Who(David Tennant), and it's spin off Torchwood. But recently, she's been starring as Alesha Philips, a Crown Prosecutor on Law and Order: UK.
Early Life and Career
-Her mother is an Iranian woman named Azar and her father is a man named Osei, who is Ghanian. When she was a child they divorced
-Has an older sister, Leila, and a younger brother, Dominic
-Despite growing up in a household where her mother was Muslim and fathewr was Methodist, she grew up Roman Catholic
-Studied performing arts at Middlesex University, graduating in 2000
-Has a tattoo on her upper arm, symbolic of her ancestry, containing the Persian word "raha", meaning "emancipated" under a butterfly.
-On June 24, 2005, she auditioned for the role of Sally Jacobs on the show, but lost out to Anita Briem.

















-She eventually got the job as the friend of Doctor Who #10 David Tennant, replacing Billie Piper






-Later on, it was revealed that she was to appear in a radio version of Torchwood, but the director, Euros Lyn, said that she was committed to Law and Order: UK.
-Between 2009-2012, she has been playing the role of Crown Prosecutor Alesha Philips on Law and Order: UK. She is a massive fan of the American series this one was based on. In order to prepare for the role of a person in law, she consulted with her older sister Leila, who holds a degree in law. She sat in on actual trials, toured the Old Bailey.
-In March 2012, it was announced that she would play Larissa, an easy going party girl who works at Interview Magazine, in the new Sex and the City prequel, The Carrie Diaries.
