Day 24-If You Won the Lottery...

Here we go!
https://never3nding.tumblr.com/post/2660644142/tumblr-30-day-challenge

Take my family to Tahiti
-My mom and stepdad are in love with Tahiti. They have been there numerous times and they want to go back, but like most travelling experiences, Tahiti is expensive. You have to pay for most if not all your meals, drinks and other stuff unless you luck out with an all inclusive, which is rare in French Polynesia.
Travel
-I'd love to travel. London would be one place I'd go to because a good majority of the bands I listen to come from London, mostly Iron Maiden, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Clash, The Police, As Lions, Billy Idol. And the bands I listen to that don't come from London have gone to this city to record. Plus, I'd love to see an authentic soccer (football) game. Doesn't matter the team. If they are English, I'd love to see them play. I'd love to go to Australia because it's beautiful. Not now, with those raging wildfires. I'd love to visit Japan because I've been deeply interested in the culture since I was 13.

Donate to charity
-I'd donate to the ASPCA, because I love animals. I'd donate to Wounded Warriors because I deeply support the military. I'd donate to Alzheimer's Association because Alzheimer's Disease  runs in my stepdad's family and it's what killed his aunt Rita. I'd donate to the Breast Cancer Foundation because I can't even begin to imagine the horror of getting the diagnosis of breast cancer. The horror of losing your hair or even having to have a mastectomy done.

Find a passion and go back to school
-If I could, I'd love to go to college or university for something. The only problem is that I have no passion for anything anymore. I used to have a passion for medicine, but my biological father drove that out of me by saying I was a failure in school, what makes anyone think I would be any better in medicine? No one would trust someone who can't pass a class in school. My mom and stepdad say that if I am destined to do something or have the talent for it, then I should pursue it. You can't go to school just for something you're interested in. You have to be destined to do that, have a talent for it and a strong passion for it.

Slight cosmetic surgery
-Nothing too major. Just mostly some sort of weight loss procedure, like that Coolsculpting that keeps getting advertised on TV. I would never modify my body in major ways, like breast augmentation or enlargement, lip fillers or any of that. The only reason I would want a weight loss thing like Coolsculpting is to help me lose a few pounds. I'm not fat, but I'm not skinny either. I'm curvy, but I do have problem areas with my midsection. But then again, what woman doesn't?

Day 19-3 Wishes

This will be hard
https://never3nding.tumblr.com/post/2660644142/tumblr-30-day-challenge

To be beautiful
-I wish I be more beautiful. If anything, I probably look like Georgia May Jagger's ugly sister. I have full lips, a very slight gap in my teeth and skin so fair it could probably burst into flame on a sunny day, despite the fact I lay out in the sun every summer. Not only that, but with the late hours I have been working, I can only eat a little something before having to go to bed, so I am basically starving myself and I am unable to work out because of the long hours

Travel
-I've been dreaming of travelling to London since I was 16. I am 29, so it's a long-running dream. I have the money saved up. It's all down to actually planning it. I just want to have enough vacation time from work to do so. Right now, at work, the only people who can take off are people with enough seniority. I have hardly any. Everyone else can start requesting time off on Jan. 18, after the first major holiday of the year, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. And even then we'll be working. Any major holidays-Christmas and Thanksgiving-are the ONLY days we get off work. All other holidays-Columbus Day, President's Day, Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, etc., we have to work our full 8+ hours. But, aside from that little rant (so sorry about that), I have dreamed of travelling to London and taking my sister with me. She loooooooooves punk rock and what better place for a lover of all things punk to go than London? Where it all started?

Front row tickets for me and my family to see a concert
-I would love to have front row tickets for me and my family to see a concert. The one band that I think would strike a particular emotional cord with my mom is Lynyrd Skynyrd. She has been a fan since she was a child. Her class song when she graduated high school was "Freed Bird". We were lucky enough to be able to take her to see Skynyrd recently. When they played "Free Bird" with late front man Ronnie Van Zant's hat on the microphone, my mom was in tears. I love when me or my sister can do something that special for someone we love. If we were able to get front row tickets to Skynyrd, I bet she would be in tears once more. But, unfortunately, the only downside is that getting front row tickets or anything near that is near impossible. I already had to play Beat the Clock to get tickets to Iron Maiden because the day they went on sale, I had a job interview. I was fighting to get tickets on my phone before the person interviewing me for the job came. And it turned out the two security guards nearby were doing the same thing, judging from them saying things like "Come on, Ticketmaster. Mama wants to see Maiden!"

Day 7-What You Hate Most

I hate a lot of things. Here are some...
https://never3nding.tumblr.com/post/2660644142/tumblr-30-day-challenge

Racism
-I've always hated racism. Why do we all have to hate? If people think that racism died out in the 1960s, you're wrong. Racism is still alive and well and getting stronger every day. People want to hate others simply because they are different. Because they practice different religions. Because they love same sex people rather than opposite sex people. Because they speak different languages or are of a different ethnicity or come from a different country. It pains me to know that this still exists. It makes me cry when I hear just how brutal some people can be simply because someone is different. My mother and father may have been racist, but thankfully they raised me and my sister to be very open and tolerant of everyone. I am so thankful of that. If I going to not like someone, it's not going to be based on their skin color or race. It's going to be because they did something to me to make me lose my respect and trust for them.

Bullying
-As a victim of bullying herself, I can say I hate it. Me and my sister hate it. Our own father bullied us growing up, in addition to classmates doing it. We were made fun of for everything and it's no wonder we have trust issues. We don't trust anyone, which is why we are both single. We have self-esteem and self-confidence issues. We both worry about what someone is thinking about us.

Showing off a lot of $$$
-What I mean is when you hear about these musicians, athletes, actors and others with a lot of money buying all this expensive stuff, probably just to show off. If I had even half the money that these people had, I would spend on things that I needed. Like home improvements for the house me, my mom, stepdad and sister live in. I would take my family on a weeklong trip to Tahiti because my mom and stepdad love it there. I would donate some to charity. I would use it for good. It makes me sick to hear about how some of these people are blowing all their money on expensive crap they don't need. It's just like the lottery. These people win millions and billions and they spend, spend, spend and before they know it, they're living on the streets, homeless. It just pains me to think about how some people can spend like there's no tomorrow when I am working a regular job and can only dream of doing things sometimes. I can only dream of travelling the world, but it costs a lot of money and I have to save up a lot. Basic point-it's stupid to spend money like that. It's ridiculous!!

Travelling: The Next Great Confidence Builder

We all may or may not have issues with confidence. Some are happy go lucky, confidence off the charts. Others may be more reticent, shy, not a lot of confidence. Did you know that travelling can build up that confidence? Here's how.

1. You develop better financial skills
-When you have those destinations in mind, you tend to start saving up. You become more financially savvy. Everyone knows that to travel, you need a lot of $$$$. If you can budget yourself on vacation, odds are high that you can budget yourself back home. When you're away on vacation, it's probably a knee jerk reaction to buy anything that looks cool. The most important thing is to know how much money you are going to need to survive the trip. If you can carefully manage the money you have to be able to get everything you need for your trip, you will be good and you can transfer these skills into everyday life. One piece of advice-when travelling through Europe, Australia, Asia, there are no such things as "all inclusive". This term refers to something that a lot of tropical destinations engage in. It means everything is paid for. The only money you bring is for tips and souvenirs.
2. Learning a foreign language
-Everyone at one point or another in their life has been interested in learning a foreign language. I know I have and I know I am. It's said that through learning a foreign language you are looking at the world through a new set of eyes. Taking a class on foreign languages is great, but what is even greater is talking to the locals, engaging in conversation with them and asking them what words mean in their language. They will be more than flattered that you are taking an interest in their culture and language and be more than willing to help. Learning a new language helps you learn how interact with your surroundings in new ways. You will have an increased capacity for action and doing things and as such, you can tackle challenges easier
3. Independence
-There is a vast world of difference between travelling as a group and going solo. When going solo, you essentially have to become a jack-of-all-trades, a sort of Bear Grylls-type person to survive. Not to the extent of Bear Grylls, but you will need the skills necessary to solve problems should they come your way. Knowing how to do basics such as sew, cook, fix a bike, camp or even drive will boost your confidence ten fold and let you know you can survive

4. Meeting new people
-For some, the shy people mostly, meeting new people is a daunting task. What do you say to start the conversation? Unless your itinerary is camping in a wooded area, odds are high that you will be meeting other people. It's mind blowing the way humans interact with other humans. Anthropologists would have a field day studying humans and their interactions with other humans, rofl. If you are travelling to a country where English is not the primary language, it could look like a jumbled mess. It'll be almost to the point of frustration to reach some point of understanding between you and the other person, but the reward is worth going for. Getting to know others and their way of life shows that person you are taking interest in their culture. Most if not all people are flattered when people take interest in their culture. Talking to others and meeting new people can help you recognize the sensitivities and desires of other people. You can even have the confidence to help change someone's life for the better. And in the process, even make a new friend or two

You're not gonna believe this!

There are true and false facts about college!! This definitely makes me feel a lot better about going back to school; it puts a little relief on my mind about it, eases my ever worrying mind, especially since my aunt last night called and all but discouraged me from going back. If you read this and find it shocking, don't be. My aunt's been like this for years; discouraging me and my sister from following our dreams!

1.
-American colleges are the best in the world.
Not true according to a study done by Jeff Selingo, who wrote a book about higher education. The U.S. only ranks about 14th in the world for education. Mainly because the cost is out of control and the quality of education is questionable. Also, more and more colleges anymore are taking up study abroad programs, which allow its students to travel to other countries, soaking up the local culture and attend college in those countries and learn like the locals do

2.
-You get what you pay for
He says there is really no difference in cost if you attend one college over another.  He says that some people would go to an expensive college thinking they'll get 5 star education when compared to someone who goes to a modestly priced college will get the same level of education

3.
Most students graduate in four years
-Fewer than 40% of students graduate in four years and 58% students graduate in 6 years. You're no better than a high school student, says Selingo

4.
-Majors determine your future
Most employers want employees who are quick to learn (ME) and have the ability to learn and love of learning (ME). These employers also want people who can find the answers to tomorrows' questions. Most fields the major matters.

5.
Community College is for losers
-It's said that students who come to a four year university after attending a community college graduate quickly. Because they're motivated to do well, tuitions are lower at community colleges.

Different Types of Video Game Ratings

The reason I'm doing a post on video game ratings is because I've noticed that there are some politicians out there who are going to try and lay the blame of violence on video games. Come on, be realistic here. Video game violence does not make people killers, maybe it does, I don't know. The way I look at it is this: You just gotta be careful when getting video games, especially if it's going to be played by younger children.

And those games you can play where you use online headsets, those are not so good. When kids get online and start playing with those things, they can start saying some pretty nasty stuff, and that could be considered bullying if it's insulting. But usually, it's just kids swearing because they think it's cool.
Video Games

Ratings go from:
1.)EC (Early Childhood) Young kids are able to play

2.)E (Everyone), meaning anyone can play them at any age

3.)E10+ (Kids 10 and older can play them legally)
4.)T (Teen) may deal with adult matters that teens may get, not recommended for young audiences. Possible swearing, sexuality, blood/gore, crude humor, suggestive stuff

5.)M (Mature) Must be 17+ to play. Definite sexuality, blood/gore, swearing, nudity, language, criminal violence, drug use, alcohol use etc

6.)A (Adults Only) Suitable for ages 18 and up. May include but is not limited to graphic violence, graphic sexual content, gambling

7.) RP (Rating Pending). Usually only seen on promotional stuff for new games
-Descriptors are the items in the rating box on the game that tells what's in it. Here are some common ones:
  • Alcohol reference: Obviously this is references to alcohol or images of alcoholic beverages
  • Animated Blood: discolored images of what could possibly be blood
  • Blood: Obviously going to have real life colored blood, red as cherries
    • i.e. Scarface: The World is Yours. You can use an arsenal of guns to rip people apart into bloody shreds
  • Cartoon Violence: Usually seen in Early Childhood and Everyone rated games, this can go from characters getting injured cartoon style, such as having anvils dropped on them, blowing up, getting run over by trucks, etc
  • Comic Mischief: Suggestive humor or comedic relief
  • Crude Humor: "Bathroom" humor, things that might be considered slightly sexual or vulgar
  • Drug Reference: References to drugs like Ecstasy, heroin, cocaine, marijuana, crystal meth, etc
  • Fantasy Violence: involving human or non-human creatures doing things that are easily not able to be done in real life
  • Intense Violence: This is too obvious. In games, intense violence can go from using real life weapons to blow someone's head apart into little bloody bits, to using a chainsaw to remove major limbs, any kind of human decapitation or injury or death with blood accompanying it
  • Language: Using bad words, including the "F" word alot
  • Lyrics: In video games, sometimes they use real life music as soundtracks. This applies to songs being used that have overall bad lyrics pertaining to something offensive, crimes, drinking, messing around with women, etc
    • i.e. Grand Theft Auto series
  • Mature humor: Only adults would get stuff like this. This applies to but is not limited to adult humor and sexual references
  • Nudity: showing frontal male nudity, female's breasts, female's frontal nude areas, etc
  • Partial nudity: showing partial images of nudity
  • Real gambling: Using real money to gamble at blackjack, poker, Texas Hold 'Em, slots, etc
  • Sexual content: players can get sexual favors from strippers, such as lap dances, or in games with prostitutes, players can get hand jobs and blow jobs
    • I.e. The Sopranos: Road to Respect. Player can get lap dances from strippers, and watch topless strippers
  • Sexual Themes: referring to sexual acts
  • Sexual Violence: Showing someone getting raped or other violent sexual acts
  • Simulated Gambling: players can place bets and gamble without using real world money
  • Strong Language: Explicit or frequent use of swearing
    • i.e. The Sopranos: Road to Respect. In the game, the F word is used A LOT in addition to swearing in Italian
  • Strong Lyrics: Music that uses swearing, refers to sex, violence, drug/alcohol use, crimes, etc
  • Strong Sexual Content: Frequent showings of people engaged in sexual acts, nudity, etc
  • Suggestive Themes: Somewhat provocative stuff
  • Tobacco Themes: showing images of tobacco-related items, ads for tobacco companies such as Kool, Marlboro, Doral, etc
  • Use of Alcohol: Shows people drinking
  • Use of Drugs: Shows someone shooting up heroin or drugs
  • Use of Tobacco: Showing someone smoking
  • Violence: Showing someone fighting, or getting dismembered by a weapon into a million little bloody pieces
  • Violent References: Referring to violence

Post-Christmas Wishes

Well, Christmas is over for yet another year. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I sure as heck did. The shopping was not the bad part, it was just the wrapping. But in the end, it turned out amazing. I got all kinds of cool stuff, some I wasn't even expecting. Like for starters, I got an iPod Nano!! My mom won it at work and I get it for Christmas instead. I asked her why didn't she just keep it for herself, and she told me that she already had a music device and that I should have it. That figures, I always question something like that, asking someone why didn't they keep it for themselves?

But, all in all, here's some of the stuff I got:

Book. Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary. Has pictures and lets them do all the talking about their being around for 50 years

Very heavy book! Did not ask for this!

iPod Nano. Apple green. Gonna load it up with as much Def Leppard as it will allow!!

CD: The Rolling Stones GRRR!
Clothes

Other: Key chain of Mario Brothers character Yoshi.
-He's so cute. Belt that looks like a seat belt with cartoon character Domo on it

Lotion for my stupid feet that crack and peel all the time

New camera with a plastic bag that says "Catie's new waterproof camera bag".
-Joke from my mom and step dad after I accidentally walked into the pool at our hotel in Mexico with my digital camera in the pocket of my board shorts

Visa Gift card to use on anything

More lotion and things, this one in White Jasmine

New wallet with Yoshi on it

Dear Santa...

I know I'm a little old to be asking Santa for something for Christmas, but maybe he'll bring me something, idk.

Here's my 'Santa List'

Dear Santa

What do I want for Christmas, you may ask? All I want for Christmas is for me and my mom to find jobs. For her, a job that she will like, that will pay good, and also have employees who pull their weight, instead of sitting around daydreaming, texting and shooting the breeze. Because recently, her own boss Nick screwed any chances she could have had at a job. He said that she tends to get a little upset when she is overwhelmed with work. Seriously? Who doesn't get upset when they get overwhelmed? That is not right of him to do that. So please, help her get a good job. What I want is nothing more than to find a job. I was holding some high hopes that this local bank called Fidelity Investments would call me back if they were interested in me as a possible future employee in the mail room at the Taylor Mill location. I was told by one of the HR reps there that a phone interview would be conducted at 3pm. That came and went. No 3pm phone interview yet. So, I'm givin' up hope on that one! Please help me find a job, along with my mom! She needs it just as bad as I do. And really, that's it. That's all I want. I don't want any material possessions, don't need 'em. Just help me and my mom find a job

If You Won the Lottery...

Do you ever what you would do if you won the lottery or came onto some money? Well, there's a million things I'd love to do if I ever won the lottery. But I would not be like some people who go crazy of they win money, like spending it on stupid expensive stuff. Considering the modest household in which I was raised, I'd probably put it in the bank, or a smarter idea, put it into some kind of trust, so that I don't get every Sally Sob Story calling me saying "I need a new heart, help me" or "Donate to kids in Africa" or something.

Here are some of things I'd probably do if I ever won the lottery:

Travel
-I'd go to places like Australia, see places like Sydney, maybe Cannes, Brisbane. Go see the sights like the Sydney Opera House, the Great Barrier Reef, Ayers Rock, or Lightning Ridge. They mine for opals. My favorite stone! Or Japan, very beautiful country there, and also London. IDK why, this is just a very culturally fascinating city to me. Also, since my mom thinks I'm nuts, I would not mind maybe seeing Russia. The palaces there are just mind blowingly beautiful.

-Go to school and learn some foreign languages. Yeah, I'm really going all out on the money, huh? LOL!! I"m not an extravagant person, I'd be happy just learning some foreign languages. I'd really love to learn Chinese, Japanese, German, Russian, Italian

-Get a tattoo. It would have to be something cultural. Either Chinese, Japanese or some kind of girlish Irish cross tattoo or something.

-Get a car. Right now, I'm in the process of getting my license. I go for my temporary license on Friday and I'm really hoping I pass. Because I already got it planned on what kind of car I want. I want either a Mini Cooper or VW Beetle

Oooh, the green one would be nice...

I was already forewarned that if I ever get a car like this, to never park it near the house. My mom would never want to be seen in it, lmao!!

New Goals for the Future

Here is my "revised" bucket list

-Get a tattoo

-Go to a rock concert. Definitely Def Leppard if I can manage to get to it!!

-Travel to other places

Sydney Harbor Bridge. What can I say? I'm a creature of habit. Besides, my "fantasy" actor husband, Hugh Jackman, is from this city, lol!!
 -Learn a new language

-Have a good paying job

-Win the lottery

-Help my family any way I can

-Meet someone famous

Kate Winslet. I'd love to meet her. I think she is the most kind person ever!! And plus, I think she is the most beautiful woman ever, at least in my opinion I think she's beautiful

My Biggest Wish?

Continuation of a tag post

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, you're kidding right?
I have so many wishes I'd love to come true it would make your head explode. Well, here goes nothing

To be beautiful; have someone say I'm beautiful and have some meaning behind it and not just say it to be nice

Wouldn't mind seeing The Stones in concert, as long as it's not too much to ask. I kow I've said I wanna see them in previous posts, but I wouldn't mind seeing them. Everyone seems to get what they want. Why can't I have a little happiness in my life? I know it seems like I'm asking for the moon, but believe me, I'm not. I'm asking for a little tiny star, lmao!!
Graduate college and get the hell out of this stupid school. Gateway SUCKS!

Have some money tucked away to do stuff I like

Win the lottery and help out family

Actually have a job in Graphic Design and actually like it. Definitely screen printing (making T-shirts and stuff, even though my mom says it's not a real job. Gotta have something worth hoping for)

Meet someone famous

Peliculas

If you are all wondering what this title means, it means 'Movies' in Spanish. You'll probably notice that I speak Spanish quite often in these blogs, but I enjoy speaking it. Over the weekend, I watched a few movies, well, my dad did at least. On Friday night, while my sister was at work, me and my dad watched this movie called My Cousin Vinny. It's really funny, it's about this Brooklyn lawyer named Vincent Gambini, Joe Pesci plays him and Marisa Tomei plays his girlfriend. They have to travel to Alabama to defend his cousin and a friend because they were convicted of murder. It's a really funny movie if you watch it. But it keeps reminding me of my 2 next door neighbors, David and Vicki, because they are both part Italian and from New York, whenever I hear them talk, I hear the accent. I watched this other movie, I'm pretty sure that everyone on the face of the earth has probably seen it at least once somewhere, Scarface. It's from 1983, it has Al Pacino in it. I never really realized how old the movie was. I've seen it so many times because my dad is a huge fan of De Niro and Pacino. Don't know why?!?!?

But if you know my dad, you'll discover that he's a huge movie buff. But I usually am the type to not worry what goes on in the world of Hollywood, I could care less what movie is coming out nowadays because I figure I have little or no money and whenever I do have money, my dad has to borrow some to get something, he'll usually say it's for something we need, yeah right! I fell for that one already and I lost $30 to him. He spent the money on cigarettes! How pathetic! I can't even enjoy the simple pleasure of going out to see a movie because my dad would want to go or I have no money! I wanted to see the new Karate Kid movie, but I had no money, then I wanted to see The Expendables, yet again, no dinero! I also had to add this: has anyone ever seen this movie I watched over the weekend? It's called What a Girl Wants. It has Amanda Bynes in it. It's about a girl who's living in New York and she hasn't ever met her dad, and when she finds out about him, she discovers he's a British politician running for office, so she goes to England and tries to find him. It's a really awesome movie, plus it's a cool movie for teens. I watched it after My Cousin Vinny because it was on some channel I forget the name of. But anyway, it's really awesome, and plus the guy who plays her dad in there, he's kind of cute, in a British gentleman sort of way. I think his name is Colin Firth or something, I love cute guys with an adorable English accent.

This World Stinks!

I'm so tired of hearing about these Reds and Bengals players getting $20 and $30 million for playing! What I'm really beginning to tire of hearing about is our economy, how it is going down in flames! I mean, people can't find jobs, teachers are losing their jobs, schools are closing, but the people of the supposedly, so-called great city of Cincinnati can afford to put in a streetcar, a casino? That sucks, sorry to be so rude about it, but that's how I feel! Do you want to know how I spent my summer? I spent it all trying to find a job! No one is hiring, and with the money issue, it's bigger than Mick Jaggers' lips for crying out loud! I can't buy books for school, I have to hope and pray that financial aid covers it! This one book I have to buy is $185! I can't afford that, no wonder kids don't go to college, it's so expensive! I can't cover it with money from my bank account--I don't have enough, I just about cleared out my bank money buying 2 other books! I just wish that this terribly ridiculous economy would just get better! Pardon my French  but this economy is going to h--- in a handbasket! Sorry to sound like I'm ranting on about something, but I just need to get it out of my system. I'm just tired of hearing about these ridiculous politicians lying to get in office and not doing squat about anything! Sometimes I just wonder if it's even worth going to college, I can barely afford it, right now I'm barely squeaking by for college money, I mean my grades are doing just fine, they are peachy, it's just the financial issue, I'm relying on a student loan to get me by! It Is ridiculous. Sorry to sound rude, but I'm just a little P O'ed that I can't get stuff I need for school or a job! I mean, I tried EVERYWHERE! Donato's called back and politely siad that they weren't hiring, and I'm hoping that Hot Topic in the Florence mall is hiring, because if so, I'm there!

Weekend

My weekend was soooooooooooooooooooo boring! I hate not having much money! I would like to just be able to go out every great now and then and be able to buy something! I hate having to wait until birthdays and Christmas to buy something! I put my application in everywhere and no one has called! I have been more aggressive than ever and it does not seem to be helping!  I WANT MONEY!  I just want to able to go out and buy something every great now and then!  The only major thing I watched or bought was Kiss of the Dragon with Jet Li and a CD of Rihanna, it was the Good Girl Gone Bad album. For the fans of martial arts, I'm not sure if you would like it. Other than that, I went to Cynthiana  to see relatives. Never in my life did I know that I possess such racist relatives. They were talking openly and very badly of the Latin people in the U.S. But basically my weekend was boring!  I used about the last of my 20 dollars saved from christmas to buy a CD of The Rolling Stones, their Forty Licks CD.
