Did You Know?
-The bruise Renee Coleman received when sliding into base lasted for over a year

-All the injuries and bruises the actresses received during the movie were real

-Any of the actresses auditioning for the movie had to prove they could play baseball. All the actresses, apart from Geena Davis, did their own baseball plays

-During the credit roll, the women seen playing on the field, are actual original All American Women's Professional Baseball Team players

-Growing up, Lori Petty was the only girl on an all-boys' baseball team

-During the final scene, the woman who referred to Dottie Hinson as "the best player in the league" was Dolores "Pickles" Dries, a pitcher for the Rockford Peaches in 1952, 1953 and 1954

-When the movie was filmed, it was shown as unpopular and not worth watching and using cheap gimmicks to sell tickets. In reality, the all-female league proved to be more than successful, playing in Midwest towns with no access to live baseball games. This would lead to a ten team, two-division league. Unfortunately, televised baseball in the early 1950s was the end of the line for the league

-When they were practicing, the women were told they needed to attend charm school. In reality, the AAGBPL had to attend the Helena Rubenstein Beauty Salon to have make overs. They also attended Helena Rubenstein's Evening Charm School to learn proper etiquette, hygiene and learn about how enforce the league dress code

Racine Belles
Rockford Peaches
-While filming, Lori Petty threw more pitches than most MLB pitchers do in an entire season
-During the Rockford-Racine game, it was well over 100 degrees outside

-When the movie was filming in Evansville, Indiana, for the Racine and World Series games, Madonna was so rude to citizens, hotel/restaurant staff in addition to other locals, her reputation became nasty. To this day, her reputation is still severely tarnished and she even spoke incredibly poorly of the city during interviews
-The red-orange hotel the team stays in is located in Henderson, Kentucky

-Penny Marshall, who directed the movie, was inspired to create this movie after seeing a documentary on PBS about the AAGBPL and her love of baseball
-The character Walter Harvey is based on Phillip Wrigley, the owner of the Chicago Cubs and real life founder of the AAGBPL. The Harvey chocolate bars are supposed to mirror the chewing gum released by Wrigley

-One of the considerations for the role of Doris Murphy was actress Anjelica Huston

-Michael J. Fox and Bryan Cranston were considered for the role of Jimmy Dugan

-Robert De Niro was considered for the role of Bob Hinson
