Weird songs

Have you ever noticed that when it comes to music, the songs that usually have funny lyrics, don't make any sense or are just weird in one case of the word always end up being the ones that people remember most? Well, here are some lyrics to a song that I think are funny, yet the song is really good. If you ever watch the original video, it's actually kinda funny because you see Mick Jagger come strutting out on to the area wearing the weirdest clothing, white jeans or something, a purple striped tee and white gymshoes, I think.

Start Me Up by The Rolling Stones

If you start me up
If you start me up I'll never stop
If you start me up
If you start me up I'll never stop
I've been running hot
You got me ticking gonna blow my top
If you start me up
If you start me up I'll never stop
Never stop, never stop, never stop

You make a grown man cry (x3)
Spread out the oil, the gasoline
I walk smooth, ride in a mean, mean machine
Start it up

If you start it up
Kick on the starter give it all you got, you got, you got
I can't compete with the riders in the other heats
If you rough it up
If you like it you can slide it up,
Slide it up, slide it up, slide it up

Don't make a grown man cry (x3)
My eyes dilate, my lips go green
My hands are greasy
She's a mean, mean machine
Start it up

If start me up
Ahh... give it all you got
You got to never, never, never stop
Slide it up, baby just slide it up
Slide it up, slide it up, never, never, never

You make a grown man cry (x3)
Ride like the wind at double speed
I'll take you places that you've never, never seen
If you start it up
Love the day when we will never stop, never stop
Never, never, never stop
Tough me up
Never stop, never stop

You, you, you make a grown man cry
You, you make a dead man come
You, you make a dead man come

You're So Vain by Carly Simon

You walked into the party like you were walking onto a yacht
Your hat strategically dipped below one eye
Your scarf it was apricot
You had one eye in the mirror as you watched yourself gavotte
And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner
They'd be your partner, and...

You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you
You're so vain, I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? don't you?

You had me several years ago when I was still quite naive
Well you said that we made such a pretty pair
And that you would never leave
But you gave away the things you loved and one of them was me
I had some dreams, they were clouds in my coffee
Clouds in my coffee, and...

You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you

You're so vain, I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? don't you? don't you?

I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee
Clouds in my coffee, and...
You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you
You're so vain, I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? don't you?

Well I hear you went up to Saratoga and your horse naturally won
Then you flew your Lear Jet up to Nova Scotia
To see the total eclipse of the sun
Well you're where you should be all the time
And when you're not you're with
Some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend
Wife of a close friend, and...

You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you
You're so vain, I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? don't you? don't you?

And I found out something really cool: a singer I like, Mick Jagger, from The Rolling Stones, did back up vocals on this song. I didn't know it until I listened to it and there it is, his voice is heard way better in the 2nd part of the song, if you listen to him sing, you get to know his voice by hearing it!

Peliculas(Movies)

When it comes to movies, alot of people will say that they have one favorite movie when they really have like 3 or 4 or more faves. When it comes to me, I have no real favorite genre of movie or one favorite movie, I like all kinds, the only kind of movies I don't watch are ones that look stupid. Most of the movies I watch mostly have one thing in common with the other-- they'll most likely have either Jet Li or Chow Yun-fat in them, those 2 are my favorite actors, people around me wonder why 2 of my favorite actors are Chinese-born actors and I simply tell them that they are good actors and you never hear anything bad about them.

Another thing I've noticed is that some musicians are branching out in to movies, like Mick Jagger from the Rolling Stones, he's done a little acting, my dad says he isn't the world's best actor, I think wrong. I think he's a pretty cool actor, you just have to give him a chance, although some of the movies he's been in have been a little on the weird side, like Bent, he was a gay man who wore women's clothing, Freejack, he played a futuristic mercenary, The Man from Elysian Fields, he played the manager of a male escort service, Performance, he played a bisexual ex-rockstar named Turner. And Jon Bon Jovi does acting too, he's so sexy. But when it does come to movies, I'll watch just about anything, and at home almost every time my dad can't find something on, he'll turn to the enormous rack of movies we have, almost each shelf has one kind of movie or other or is devoted to one actor or another, like one shelf has nothing but Jet Li and Chow Yun-fat movies, another is split between Johnny Depp and Sylvester Stallone, another shelf has nothing but scary movies and so on and so forth.

Here are some of the movies I watch:

And when it comes to non-martial arts movies, I watch:

And when it comes to movies, almost everyone has that one actor or actress they love watching, even if the movie totally sucks. Most of the actors I like most people either think is weird or have no clue as to who they are, like Jet Li, Chow Yun-fat, Sylvester Stallone, Kate Winslet, Halle Berry, Mariska Hargitay. And there are also other actors I like, like Daniel Radcliffe from Harry Potter, he's pretty attractive. He's a megahottie. He's my favorite one in the Harry Potter movies.
           Robert-Pattinson-Kirsten-Stewart-or-Daniel-Radcliffe-who-is-the-biggest-rising-star.jpg
Those are just some of the actors I like. But this blog hopefully lets you see what kind of movies I like, my favorite actors and actresses, etc.

Dancing with the Stars.... and more!

They sure are bringing on some stupid people on Dancing with the Stars, John Gosselin, Lindsay Lohan, Simon Cowell, who might I add was once upon a time a judge on American Idol. Why can't they bring on interesting people, like Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, or maybe a musician? Personally, I think maybe The Rolling Stones would be an interesting group to see on Dancing with the Stars, seeing Mick doing the tango with someone or seeing Keith do the Salsa dancing or seeing Ron ballroom dance or Charlie ballroom dance, that would be interesting and therefore, I'd watch it. Dancing with the Stars is really going down hill, they're running out GOOD people to have dance there.

And American Idol, pretty cool that they have Steven Tyler from Aerosmith judging. He's way more compassionate and patient than that snob Simon. And at least Steven is a singer. Sometimes I wonder why get a judge who's never had singing experience? Maybe get judges who are patient and some judges who are singers. I like the judges they have, at least they're patient, compassionate and nice.

One thing I've always wondered is why do guys wear their pants so low? I found out the answer from a good friend of mine, her name is Denise and she's from New Jersey. She goes to school with me and Tuesday in class, somehow we all got onto the topic of why guys wear their pants like that and whatnot, and she delightfully told me an interesting tidbit of info. It's a trend started in prison, guys who "put out" in prison wear their pants low to show off what they have and the long t-shirts guys wear, they're supposed to be dresses, almost as if in prison the long shirts are dresses. That stuff means you're some one's "girlfriend" in prison. Even in high school, guys do it. They say stuff like "Yo, what's up dog? how's my homie?" and sometimes I feel tempted to say to them "Dude, pull your pants up, no one wants to look at your black boxers with bananas on them or your red boxers with Christmas trees on them." or "Dude, you're whiter than Texas, you'll never be black, you're not Ice T, you're not Flava Flav, so don't bother" Most black people think it's ridiculous that white kids talk like this, assuming black people talk like this. It ticks me off when people do this, and then they start questioning me about listening to rap music and being like them, I simply tell them I don't care for rap music and I wish to be myself and that I don't wish to change just to fit in. I have 2 friends that I've known for all my life, they work with my dad and they're both black, but I don't see it that way, any way they say it's ridiculous that white kids assume blacks talk this way, they both think it's funny, and this one guy who goes to school with me, his name is Alexander, he's black and he's my best buddy, he don't talk like this, he even thinks it's ridiculous.

And as Christmas draws ever closer, I start to see more commercials for Christmas, showing one of the 7 deadly sins-greed. What is it about Christmas where everyone has to get greedy? Especially the kids, I hear kids saying stuff like "I want this" or "I want that". If I were the parents of some of these kids and they came up to me saying they want a Wii system or XBox 360, I'd tell them when hell freezes over, I'd then tell them to go out, get a job and pay for it yoursefl, you'll appreciate it more, it works for me and has done it for the past 20 years, mainly I babysit and I use the money for something if I need it, recently, I had to save up all my money from it to buy books for school when the morons at the Gateway Financial Aid office in Edgewood didn't process my financial aid paperwork on time. But I just grow tired of seeing all these commercials showing people getting cars, expensive phones, expensive music systems, expensive game systems, etc for Christmas and I wonder to myself, "who the hell can afford something like that?" I could barely afford to do Christmas shopping this year and I see people buying cars and whatnot for people? A few years ago, it seems you never seen commercials like this, they're getting worse every year. What people need to realize is that Christmas is not about the gifts, decorations, how much you can spend, how much you can buy for that undeserving, ungrateful family member, how empty you can make your bank account, it's about the birth of Christ, it's about spending time with family, making special memories, giving rather than recieving and sharing. People seem to have lost sight of this, and they need to regain sight of the true meaning of Christmas. I'm just tired of hearing about people wanting stuff they truly don't need.

Music and more!

Ah, sweet glorious music, an international language everyone can connect on. I'm not really into any certain type of music, but I will absolutely not listen to rap. It doesn't make any sense to me, and sometimes I hear lyrics for these rap songs and sometimes they are about raping/killing someone, someone stealing a girlfriend, stealing or something bad. No one wants to hear a song that has to do with drugs, rape/murder, or something like that, and no one definitely wants to hear a song that uses racial/ethnic slurs and bad words.

I also must say something important-- Today is the anniversary of Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat to a white man. It's the anniversary of the Montgomery Bus Boycotts. I say to Rosa Parks, way to go! I love hearing and learning about people like Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr, etc. All they wanted was equality, and look what happens- Martin Luther King Jr, gets assassinated for believing in a world where blacks people and white people and everyone live together in perfect harmony, Rosa Parks gets arrested for refusing to give her seat to a white man, Nelson Mandela gets convicted of political treason just because he believed in a world united and almost spends half his life in prison for what he believes in, I say it's high time for a change. I say that people need to stop the hate before it gets out of control. I know this blog is supposed to be about music, but I think this is a reason for celebrating. Rosa Parks is a wonderful person, she did what she believed in, and she gets arrested? No way, totally unfair.

Here are some links to some music videos of Aerosmith, a band I listen to:

http://new.music.yahoo.com/videos/--2165470-Aerosmith: The Other Side
http://new.music.yahoo.com/videos/--2164165-Aerosmith: Eat the Rich. This video starts out a little weird, and some of the lyrics have bad words, but it's an overall good song
http://new.music.yahoo.com/videos/--2138672-Aerosmith: Fallin' in Love(Is Hard on the Knees). It's a suggestive song, and some of the lyrics are gross, but it's a good song
http://new.music.yahoo.com/videos/--2138669-Aerosmith: I Don't Want to Miss a Thing. This is PERFECT for couples because it talks about being romantic

If it seems like alot of links and stuff, I do apologize. I think the links to the music videos will show what kind of music I'm into. And music seems to be an international language almost, everyone somehow connects with music. And I usually figure music is something everyone can connect to.

Dancing with the Stars/Bristol Lost!

Oh Yeah! Bristol lost on Dancing with the Stars! I was so glad to see that diva in training Bristol lose! When I heard Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough were the winners, I did a little dance of joy! Because from what I hear, Bristol's dumb as a bag of bricks mother Sarah was blocking up the phone lines by having people vote multiple times just for her sleazy daughter, who I may add, can't dance! What she NEEDS to be doing is be at home taking care of that little angel she brought into the world. Where was her mother when she was having sex and getting pregnant as a teenager? Her mother must have been up on her soapbox preaching about abstinence when she probably realized she had an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter. Enough about that! Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough won! I also heard about who is going to be on the next season of Dancing with the Stars, they are really running out of people. John Gosselin is supposed to be there, along with Rehab Rita aka Lindsay Lohan, hopefully she cleans up her act and gets out of rehab, because I really have hopes for her getting clean, I really think she can do it, and I think Paul McCartney would be an interesting person to see on Dancing with the Stars, along with people like Halle Berry or Denzel Washington or someone like that! Oh man, if Denzel Washington ever went on Dancing with the Stars, I'd be following that show religiously, I love him, he is a really cool actor and not to mention drop dead gorgeous! It would be interesting to see people like Halle or Denzel on there, or have musicians like Joe Perry or Paul McCartney go for it, that would be cool!

And if they ever had other people be on there, I think The Rolling Stones would be interesting to see on there, to see if Mick can ballroom dance or tango or see if Keith, Charlie or Ronnie can rock on the dance floor, omg, if they ever went on to Dancing with the Stars, I'd follow it religiously!

Facebook for Hire!

Yeah, the title should attract attention. While I was in class on Tuesday looking at different social networking sites, the teacher for the class informed us that some employers hire people based on what is on their Facebook account. Personally, this is ridiculous, no employer should hire someone based on what is on their Facebook account. What an employer should hire someone because of is how they work with others, their qualifications or something else, not a Facebook account. I mean, I have an account and if an employer were to look at mine, they'd see that I'm a music lover, because most of the stuff on my Facebook page have to do with music, like announcements for Rihanna going on tour, U2 going on tour, Paul McCartney going on tour, the Beatles releasing an album, etc. I personally think it's stupid that some employers would hire you because of what is on a social networking site that you use. Because when we looked at Facebook accounts, I'm pretty sure everyone in the world has seen mine and they pretty much know that I'm a  music lover because of all the music tour announcements, album releases, etc. But I just think it's stupid that some people would do that, it's almost an invasion of privacy, I mean, on Facebook, you can say just about anything and that some people who hire would look at one's account and see something like someone talking about partying or something, that might make the person hiring a little hesitant to hire.

What I think an employer SHOULD look at is what that person can bring to the table, their skills, if they can work well with others, their qualifications, what they can do, their interests or something, my dad has a friend who is a Graphic Designer and he told me he thought that it was ridiculous that some people hire based on what one has on a social networking site. He said that most should hire because of skills/qualifications. And if Denise reads this, I'm totally with her on the whole Facebook issue, no employer should hire a person based on what is on a social site like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc.

Personally, If I'm going to look for a job, I'm just going to keep the same Facebook account that I currently have, if you ever see mine, there is never usually anything dirty on it, most of the stuff on my wall is stuff pertaining to the Breast Cancer Foundation, I'm a strong believer in there being a cure for breast cancer, it runs in my family, happy joy!, Shriner's Hospital is on my wall, I believe in kids getting miracles, a-lot of the stuff on my wall is charity and good stuff and music tour dates, music album releases, musician announcements, etc and just friends talking, but unfortunately, most of the friends I have on there like to talk dirty and I usually tell them I don't talk like that and they just keep on doing it!

Just thought I'd make my text green because of the rapidly approaching Christmas holidays. And thank the Good Lord I have my Christmas shopping done. I swear, I never knew shopping for family would be so hard, I have my sister taken care of, I bought her a blanket of this cartoon character she likes, called Invader Zim, and a book about this athlete she likes, Apolo Ohno, I bought my dad a movie,The Expendables, he loves all those exploding action movies, I bought my mom a book about the topic of Organized Crime, she finds in interesting, I bought my step-father a set of model race cars, he's a major fan of all those car races, like the Le Mans, Indy 500, etc. So hopefully, they love their gifts, I care about family and just wanted to give them something they like.

Break ins/Christmas

Yeah, the title explains it all. I figured combine 2 blogs into 1. Last night, me, my dad and sister were finishing the movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas and that's when we heard someone opening the screen door. And from living at the same house for 20 years, I've grown quite accustomed to the sounds of that door. And less than a minute later, I heard someone trying to break the door down! Nobody realizes how scary that is! Someone was actually trying to break in! My dad called the cops because he was concerned. 10 minutes later the cops show up and they take a statement from my dad. They also say that they have been getting numerous reports about people being seen in the woods behind me and my neighbor's houses, in fact one house up the street I have a neighbor who says he's missing quite a few power tools and he thinks someone broke into his house when no one was home and stole them. And I'm really worried about this. I mean, what if someone breaks into my house even if the doors are locked?

Ah yes, Christmas is once again approaching. It seems as though it gets here quicker and quicker every year. I'm happy because I'm able to buy something for my dad, sister, step-dad, and mom. But the thing I love knowing is that Christmas isn't about the gifts, or the decorations, or the bargain sales at the stores. For all the lovely church going people, here's something for you: you probably know this, but Christmas is about the birth of Christ for God's sake! It's not about how much you can spend, how many gifts you can buy, how much the gifts are worth, none of that matters. The thing that truly matters is being surrounded by family, sharing special moments. In past years, I've felt like "What's the point of celebrating Christmas when everyone is so completely consumed by greed?" I mean, it's hard to try and tell people what the true meaning is, but they just don't listen. And sometimes I hear on the news about how people will get trampled to death just because some parent was buying an expensive game system for their kid that probably deserves a good smack upside the head, do these kids realize we're in a depression? It's like the Great Depression 2010, people are losing their homes, people are losing their jobs, people can barely afford to put food on the table, support a family, or pay bills, but you got these families out there buying their kids expensive crap they don't need. If I were any of those kids' parents and they came to me saying "I want a Wii system" or "I want an ipod Nano", I'd simply tell them "You want that game system or ipod? Go out, get a job and pay for it yourself, because I'm not doing it." Because, I'm a young adult and I may not be a parent, but I know plenty of people who are parents and they would probably say something similar to this. I'm just tired of hearing about the so called Christmas Greed, all I hear kids say nowadays is "I want this" or "I want that". I'm really glad I'm not like this, if I want something, I go out, get a job and pay for it myself. If I do it that way, I'll appreciate it more, that's the magic of hard work.

Racism

Yes, the title says it all. This blog is to see if anyone out there is against racism like I am. On Sunday, me, my dad and sister went to Traders World, that big flea market, to see a friend, she's this real nice black lady that I've known for all my life. She's the world's nicest person. Anyway, since we know her, every time we see her, we hug her and say it's good to see her. Well, obviously this didn't fly well with the countrified locals and this white guy gives me and my family a dirty look, he must have thought that it was a crime to hug someone of a different skin color. I thought we were all past the skin color issue. I mean, it's not 1950s anymore, it's 2010.

I'm the kind of person who looks past skin color, race, ethnicity, etc. I have friends who are of different ethnic groups and I look past that, I don't see them as Italian, black, Latino, etc. I see them as friends, buddies, etc. I just can't see what the big deal about having family/friends who are supposedly "different". I look at it this way-- having someone of another ethnic group/race exposes you to another of the fascinating cultures of our diverse world. I mean, I can barely stand it when I visit my aunt Lois and uncle Justin start talking bad about other people because of the way they look, their physical appearance, etc. And in high school, don't get me started. Guys wanting to be like the rap singers openly use the N word to describe friends, sorry but you don't use ethnic/racial slurs to describe friends, and when it comes to other words, teens today use the word Gay to say stupid. You don't use the word Gay to say that someone/something is stupid, it only makes yourself sound stupid. I hate when people turn things around to make something sound cooler to them, but makes them sound like they have no IQ. Because last time I checked, the term Gay meant someone who likes someone of the same sex, and homosexual is a less mean term.

If this were the 1950s, I'd be called a whole bunch of bad names because quite a few of my buddies are black, but I don't see it that way, hypothetically if someone were to ask me what it's like having black friends, I'd simply tell them, they're not my black friends, they're my friends. I don't see any of that racial/ethnic crap that some may see. You wonder how I got on this topic, the above mentioned event got me started, and plus, having an aunt who openly uses racial slurs is ridiculous. She doesn't like anyone, whenever she talks about someone, she almost puts them into a separate group, she doesn't like anyone of Italian descent, Asian descent, Latino descent, African descent. I try to put it into the least offensive way. But I can't just sit here and listen to people bad mouth others because of something simple as being of another ethnic group. If I see/hear someone insulting someone based on race in public, I will come right out and tell them it isn't right.

But it just isn't right, seeing people face injustice because of how they appear. I'm the kind of person who believes in treating everyone with respect and dignity and that means everyone, no matter how they appear. And I think Rodney King said this, "Why can't we all just get along?" And in the "I Have a Dream" speech, Martin Luther King believed in a world united, and somehow, he gets shot for believing in a world where blacks and whites and everyone lives together peacefully. I just don't understand the mindset of some people, how some people can be complete a--holes to people because of how they appear. Wake up people! It's 2010, not 1950s anymore. So just get over your racist attitudes and get over it!

Christmas Around the World

I thought this would make an interesting blog. Since Christmas is right around the corner, I decided to see if and how Christmas is celebrated in different parts of the world, out of curiosity.

Australia: they celebrate Christmas outside because of the warm weather, they don't have snow, and their Christmases are alot like ours, they decorate with tinsel, and out up trees, only it might be palm trees instead of evergreen trees or whatever tree people usually decorate around here. And here, Christams mass is huge! Everyone goes to Christmas mass here, no choice about the matter like here. Alot of people go to Bondi Beach, one of the bigger beaches in Sydney and enjoy the caroling there. And the day after Christmas, they have something called Boxing Day, which started when employees would box gifts and give them to someone. On this day, they all watch people play a game called Cricket, which is like a British version of baseball, and they also watch the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in Sydney Harbor.

Italy: Here it lasts 3 weeks, starting 8 days before Christmas called Noventa and ending on the Feast of Epiphany, and if it wasn't painfully obvious, alot of people here are Catholic, so that is why Christmas is such a big deal here, and here they don't worry about the greed of Christmas like over here, they celebrate for the true meaning, the birth of Christ! And you know the tradition of setting up the Nativity Scene? That actually started in Italy, and poor kids would dress up as shepherds and go door to door singing carols, like here. And like all traditions, Italy has their own version of 'Santa'. Here 'Santa' is a woman called La Befana, and she is often shown as a fairy queen, a crone or an ugly witch on a broomstick, she flies around looking for the Christ Child and leaves presents at every house in case he's there. She slides down chimneys, fills socks with goodies for the good kids, and charcoal for the bad ones, so La Befana here is Santa's Italian cousin. Buon Natale(Merry Christmas in Italian)

Mexico: Ayos Mio! It's huge here. Christmas here begins on December 12, with the birthday of the Virgin of Guadalupe and ends January 6. Kids wake up to find gifts under a tree and figures of the 3 Kings as well. And here where kids get gifts on December 25, in Mexico kids get gifts on January 6, the Epiphany. They also have the setting of the Nativity Scene, it's very big here. On Christmas Eve, small children dress as shepherds and go to the big Nativity Scene in the middle of town and they sing Ave Maria among real shepherds and to lull the child who plays Jesus to sleep, they sing El Rorro(Babe in Arms). Everyone goes to Midnight Mass and after that, go home to eat traditional Mexican food, tamales, burritos, etc. Feliz Navidad(Merry Christmas in Spanish)

China: Yeah, they celebrate it here too!: The people of China decorate their houses with twinkling lights, trees which they call trees of light decorated with paper lanterns, paper chains and paper flowers, they hang up stockings with the hopes that Dun Che Lao Ren(Santa's Chinese cousin) will fill them with presents.
愉快的圣诞节(Merry Christmas in simplified Chinese)

Japan: Yeah, they celebrate it here too!: Like in the US, Christmas in Japan is on the 25th of December, only about 1% of the people here are Christian, the major religions here are Buddhism and Shintoism, and Santa's Japanese cousin takes care of the little kids in Japan, his name is Hotei-Osho, who is a Buddhist monk who leaves presents in the houses for kids, and is said to have eyes in the back of his head. And in Japanese, Merry Christmas is Meri Kurisumasu.

England: Here it's celebrated on the 25th of December, like all other places. Christmas trees here are a big thing, decorating it has been around since the 1850s, it's considered bad luck to have the decorations up after January 6, the Epiphany. The tradition of stockings was actually started here, Santa's British cousin is said to wear a long red or green robe, the stockings are usually pillowcases hanging at th end of beds and he fills them up with goodies on Christmas Eve and on the afternoon of Christmas Day, that's when these little kids open their gifts. And here it's practically required to attend Midnight Mass or mass on Christmas Day.
And that is just some of the places that Christmas is celebrated in, I really didn't expect to hear that China and Japan celebrates this holiday. England I'm not suprised, alot of the traditions we celebrate on Christmas come from here.

CMA's

Hola! Do I have a blog for you! Did everyone watch the CMA's last night? Taylor Swift didn't win a thing, at least I don't think she did. When every category came up and she was nominated, and didn't win, I jumped for joy. She's only 19, she doesn't know good country music if the music bug bit her repeatedly. I was so glad to see some of those other country artists win, like the Zac Brown Band, I've listened to them before, I'm really thinking about renting one of their CD's from the library and downloading it to my MP3. And Carrie Underwood sang one of my favorite songs last night, Songs Like This, but my dad says most of her songs have to do with destruction, I don't think that.

But I was so glad to see Taylor Swift not win anything. She seriously needs to realize she is not that good, I know she has a lot of fans, but come on, Taylor Swift stinks. Darius Rucker is 20 million times better than her. Everyone on that show was completely better than her.

Holidays

Ah, Christmas is right around the corner, does it seem like the holidays get here quicker and quicker every year? It certainly seems that way for me. And this year, I have money to go shopping and I have some Muy grande shopping to do. For my dad, I want to get him this old sci-fi B-movie from the 1950s, it's about this town in California that gets overrun by giant ants, it's called Them!. He loves that kind of stuff. For my sister, I want to get her this CD of this country band called Sugarland. Hopefully she likes it. For my mom, I want to get her this book she said she wanted, it's on the mob. She loves learning anything about organized crime. For my step-dad, I want to get him this set of cars, he collects car models and I seen one in Eastgate mall that he'll love.

But what I mainly tire of is seeing/hearing the commercials about these people buying people expensive Caddies as gifts, expensive game systems, expensive iPods, you name it. The greed has totally and completely ruined Christmas, last time I checked, Christmas was about the birth of Christ for God's sake. It's not about the gifts, it's not about how much you can spend, how much the gifts are worth, how many gifts you get, it's about spending time with the ones you love, it's about the birth of Christ, spend time with your family, don't care about the greed of Christmas bargain sales. I see commercials showing people buying their kids these expensive game systems, like PS3, Wii, XBox 360, you name it, expensive music systems, like iPod Nanos, iPod Shuffles, iPhone, etc. Wake up people! Christmas is not about the greed, it's about spending time with your family, it's about the birth of Christ, for crying out loud! In my family, we don't worry about the worth of the gifts, we spend time together by putting up the tree, decorations, etc. But in past years, it's getting to the point where we actually have to decide to do it, because it'll go down again in a few days anyway. Why can't it just be like the old days where Christmas was exciting? Where it wasn't about the greed, where you couldn't sleep the night before because you wondered what Santa brought you? Where's those days? 'Cuz they sure aren't here.

And the day after Thanksgiving, watch going out. That is the most dreaded day of all, that's when people go out and turn into complete kamikazes on the road, they're all in such a rush to get stupid stuff. My dad made the mistake of going out last year on Black Friday, I think that's what they call it, to get a gift for my sister. I also had something to pick up. I told him that I'd be in the entertainment section of the Alexandria Meijer's to pick something up and I had to push and shove my way through because people were crowding the aisles, all I had to get was an old 1950s sci-fi movie called The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. I got it and got out. By the time I got back to the video game dept. where they were, they had just gotten into the aisle. My dad was planning to get my sis The Sims 2 Pets, where you can create a Sim and a pet for them. Boy, we were glad to get out of that store, we got donuts at Dunkin donuts that morning and did it taste good! We got first dibs on donuts before anyone, even before the Alexandria Police we seen pulling into the lot in their massive SUV. Suckers!
And here's a music video, it's of the song Try Again by Aaliyah.

Songs

You eve notice how some songs, when you listen to them, they make you feel a certain way? I listen to the song Cats in the Cradle by Harry Chapin and it makes me think how much me and my sis have grown up. It talks about how a dad watches his son grow before his eyes. Here's the lyrics:

My child arrived just the other day
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talkin' 'fore I knew it, and as he grew
He'd say "I'm gonna be like you dad
You know I'm gonna be like you"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home dad?I don't know when,
but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then
My son turned ten just the other day
He said, "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on let's play
Can you teach me to throw", I said "Not todayI got a lot to do",
he said, "That's ok"And he walked away but his smile never dimmed
And said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?I don't know when,
but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then
Well, he came home from college just the other day
So much like a man I just had to say"Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while?"
He shook his head and said with a smile
"What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys
See you later, can I have them please?"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then
I've long since retired, my son's moved away
I called him up just the other dayI said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind"
He said, "I'd love to, Dad, if I can find the time
You see my new job's a hassle and kids have the flu
But it's sure nice talking to you, Dad
It's been sure nice talking to you"
And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

When my dad listens to this song, it makes him kind of sad to know his kids have all but grown up. I may not be a parent, but I know I've grown up, but I'll never be estranged from my parents, I love them with all my heart and I'll never forget them like some people do. Some people figure that since they are adults, they tend to forget who brought them into this world. But hopefully this gives you something to think about.

Christmas/Weekends

Ah yes, it's that time of year again, time again for the greed of the holidays to make its presence known. Have you ever noticed that only a few years ago, you never seen as many Christmas commercials, but nowadays, you see more Christmas commercials than ever. You see these people buying undeserving people expensive Caddies, expensive jewelry, that's not what Christmas is all about. It's about the birth of Jesus Christ for God's sake. It's right there in the name. In my house, we remember the TRUE meaning of Christmas. In my house, it isn't about the greed or whatever associated with what everyone considers Christmas now. And also a few years ago, you never seen commercials for Christmas until about November, now you're seeing them in September. But with some people they like to get Christmas shopping done early. My mom, my step-dad Greg's sisters Jeanne and Carol are 3 people who I know do their shopping early every year to get it done. They say it's a pain. But I've kind of strayed away from liking Christmas anymore. I used to love it, I used to be able to not sleep on Christmas Eve, wondering what Santa brought me, that's when Christmas was magical.

Nowadays, when it's morning, I usually walk right past what 'Santa' brought me, it just doesn't feel the same as back then. Is that what growing up does to you? Makes you forget that Christmas is a time for magic and miracles? I guess I've forgotten that magic when I keep seeing those stupid commercials advertising more greed and people getting what they don't deserve more than anything. What people need to do is realize the true meaning of Christmas-- the birth of Christ for God's sake, it's right there in the name for cryin' out loud! I do a little Christmas shopping every year and this year, I've got some money I've scrounged up for the past 2 years to do some serious shopping. I have a lot to buy-- for my dad I have to get him this old movie he wants, called Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, it's one of those old 1950s sci-fi B-movies, for my sister I'm getting her a blanket that has her favorite show on it, Invader Zim, she's a sucker for all that stuff from Hot Topic, for my mom, I'm getting her this book about the mob, she loves reading books about the mob, for my step-dad I'm getting him a picture, a hand drawn one of Tahiti at sunset. And I know where I can get it, at this place called In-Light Studio in the Eastgate Mall. You should really see this place, it's awesome, they have a picture of virtually anyone. So you can say I'm up to my eyes in shopping for the holidays.

My weekend was pretty cool though. Last night, I got to see that new Karate Kid movie with Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. It was totally awesome, way better than the old 1980's one, but that one is good too, my dad kept talking during the movie though, and there was this little kid who kept bullying Jaden Smith's character Dre Parker, and my dad kept saying that the little Oriental kid who was bullying him should get smacked so hard his eyes become straight. I told him this wasn't right. You see, my dad sometimes jokes about racial stuff like this, and sometimes it's hard to tell if he's joking. If he is, I tell him that it's not right to make racial/ethnic cracks about people. But I watched the movie last night and it was awesome! I love movies like that.

And what's stupid? I bought 2 movies with some birthday money, and I haven't even watched them yet. I bought Bulletproof Monk and Unleashed, one has Chow Yun-fat in it and the other has Jet Li in it, I haven't even watched them yet, but this Friday, if I'm not doing anything particularly interesting, I'm watching them.

And here's a video that's really cool, and I think perfect for any hard worker, it's the song Nothin But a Good Time by Poison, here's the link to the video.
http://new.music.yahoo.com/videos/--2162500
If you see my stupid email adress thing, sorry. It's off my video playlist thing on Yahoo. But the song is really cool, I guarantee it.

Body Issues!

Yes, the title says it all. Yes, everyone probably has one part of their body that they are not fond of, for me, it's my entire body. I was completely inspired by Lisa's blog to chat about issues with image. I have noticed that when celebs get on TV, they talk about how "good" and "nice" their life is, it must be nice to have a good life when you have the money for it. What about the NORMAL people who have to get up every day and work a 9-5 job, worry about paying bills, making car payments, putting food on the table and supporting a family? You certainly don't see any of those celebs worrying about that, everything seems to come to them on a silver platter, whereas when it comes to me, everything comes on a plastic party tray platter.

I also noticed that on some of these diet pill commercials, they spread the idea that it's great to be thin, totally not right. There's this one commercial for a diet pill called Xanax 3, the motto is "It's great to be thin", that's going to send all the wrong signals. On the commercial you see this man and woman practically all over each other, practically having sex right there on TV, and it almost says you have to look like this to be loved.

The reason all these kids have eating disorders is because of these celebs getting on TV and almost coming out and saying how great it is to be thin. They spread this idea that if you don't have perfect boobs, a perfect butt or perfect bod, if you're not tall, tan , or gorgeous, you're nothing. I battled alot of body issues in high school, like people calling me fat a--, fatso, Casper the ghost because of my fair complexion, four eyes, you name it, kids in high school can be so cruel. But I never did anything because I figure karma will pay them back. What comes around goes around.

And what is sort of sad is that all these musicians and actors/actresses get look great because they have the money for it. If any non-celeb people want to lose weight, they do it the old fashioned way: going to a gym, exercise, eat right. It must be nice to have money and do what you please with it. Some of these celebs are in better shape than me, the only thing holding me back is my asthma. I'm told I'm not fat, that I'm just big boned, hard to know what that actually means.

But in high school, kids have eating disorders because they see these famous people looking thin as a rail and they are almost praised for it. Since when is it glamorous to look like a freakin' rail? Some celebs need to watch what they say/do. Because in high school, girls and guys worry about how they look so they can go on dates, but if they constantly worry about how they look, they won't have time for anyone else because they are so consumed with looking good. Sorry if it sounds like a rant, but I feel my opinion needs to be heard.

More YouTube Videos

I figure everyone out there has that one band/artist that has their devotion. Well, here's one video I like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhHODhTIvgo. It's a Stones video,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ed36UQX8kXQ
If you watch this video, some would think the lead singer is gay, he's not! Both of these links are for videos by The Stones.
If you wonder why I put these on here, I just now figured out how to add video to these things! I feel like a caveman, not knowing how to do stuff.
Here's another one, for this realy awesome music video by Aaliyah, she is AWESOME!
http://new.music.yahoo.com/videos/--2138592. It has Jet Li in it, he's soooooooooooooooooooooooooo sexy!

I figure music is like an international language everyone can connect on.

Music, the show Glee, etc!

yeah, the title, real creative huh? Well here it is: Has anyone out in the blogosphere seen that show Glee? It's totally awesome! I love that show, i love how they sing songs at the end and sometimes they sing songs i like, on this episode, the crew was watching a video of the gym teacher singing Physical by Olivia Newton-John, I like that song alot.
And I still cannot believe Florence Henderson got the boot on Dancing with the Stars, it should have been Bristol, she needs to be home taking care of that kid of hers instead of flashing her face all over TV and the news!
I would put music videos on here, but I'm clueless about it, so go on the internet and look around for Try Again by Aaliyah, look for the video of that, it's totally awesome! she's one of my fave R&B singers!

Weekends and stuff

Weekends and stuff: I'm not sure what I'll do over the fall break or over the weekend or, for that matter, during the week. Mainly just focus on schoolwork, like normal. I'm thinking about checking out a couple movies from the library to watch so I can keep out of trouble, here's one movie I'm renting, I have it on hold:

I seen bits and pieces of it the last time it was on, but my dad don't like alot of Asian martial arts movies like this, so I'm watching it Friday when I'm off school. He is such a cute actor I swear, Chow Yun-fat and Jet Li are my 2 favorite actors! And I'm also thinking about watching this:

I seen it in 8th grade dance class, never finished it, but I'm a total sucker for dance movies, if it has dancing in it, you can bet a million dollars I'll be sitting in the same position watching it forever! I know it may seem boring to everyone out there in the world of blogging, but I have nothing else better to do over the fall break.

Bullying

Bullying: Yes the title is what it means--bullying. Have you ever been bullied in school for reasons you are unsure of? I have, from grade school until senior year of high school. In 7th grade people would call me four eyes or coke bottle because I wear glasses, but what they fail to realize is coke bottle is a name for really thick lenses, my eyes aren't that bad, but they aren't that good. Another name was Harry Potters' girlfriend because of the glasses issue and because I said the guy who played him was cute, and as time went on, I started getting bullied for different reasons, like in 9th grade, somehow without me saying a thing, word had spread about me being a virgin. I had not said a thing about this to anyone, its private, but you know how high school is, nothing is private. I don't mean to make this sound personal, but I'm just curious if there's anyone else out there who has been bullied before. This one girl I went to school with started asking me all these questions one day in my 12th grade marketing class and I felt really uncomfortable answering them. By then, the entire class was focused on me and I felt like I had been thrust into the spotlight. She started asking me if I smoked, if I did drugs, if I slept around with guys, I did the good thing and stayed quiet. Then in 12th grade, a fellow classmate wrote an offensive thing on my locker. For those who don't know, I have a step-dad who is of Italian ancestry, and this guy wrote Italian racial slurs in red marker all over my locker door. Then after it was cleaned off, a week later there was more stuff marked all over my locker door, only it wasn't Italian slurs, it was British racial slurs because of my liking of British rock, under these horrible words, it said "Start liking music from THIS country." So I have been bullied from grade 3 until grade 12. I was the prime victim of bullying. People would call me fat, ugly, tell me no one would ever love me, that no one would want me around, and sometimes it would stress me out so much that I thought about doing something about it, and one day I got blamed for something I didn't even do, I supposedly got accused of knocking the lights out of this guy I went to school with, the thing being I was nowhere even near him, I was on the other side of the room from him when this "hit" supposedly happened. I had to serve a Friday detention for that and this Friday DT was also his I had to serve. I didn't get out of there until 7:00 that night, it ticked me off to no end for that. But there has to be a way to stop the bullying, no kid should have to go through being bullied because of their appearance, their size, their likes/dislikes, their race you name it. Hopefully someone out there agrees about ending bullying.

Random Thoughts and Stuff, pt.II

Random Thoughts and Stuff, pt.II: I figured just title this blog random thoughts and stuff, make it easier to just put little random things out. I'm not sure if anyone else out there in the blogosphere is an Aerosmith fan, but there is this one song by them called Fallin in Love(Is Hard on the Knees), if you really listen to the lyrics, it's actually a nasty song, this is the opening chorus to the song: this song has cussing in it and everything! What was Steven Tyler thinking? He must have been out of his mind on drugs! I mean it's a good song, but gross lyrics!

You think you're in love Like it's a real sure thing But every time you fall You get your ass in a sling You used to be strong But now it's ooh baby please 'Cause falling in love is so hard on the knees
the chorus
There ain't gonna be no more beggin' you please You know what I want And it ain't one of these You're bad to the bone And your girlfriend agrees That falling in love is so hard on the knees
P.s. if you watch the video, you see Steven flip the finger a few times!

And I'm not sure if anyone has traditions for the holidays, like Halloween or Christmas, but for some reason my family does. every year on Halloween, we watch scary movies. My dad don't like my idea of turning off the lights and watching the Exorcist, which isn't scary. And on Christmas every year, like clockwork, my dad will watch Die Hard(not sure why). But he hasn't been in the christmasy mood lately, neither have I. I mean. I'm growing tired of seeing commercials for people buying these undeserving people Caddies, expensive diamonds, expensive iPods. Christmas, for all who go to church, you'll know what I mean, is about the birth of Jesus Christ. It's nota about the gifts, it's about spending time together with family and loved ones, it's about showing them yoy care, gifts are not needed, but Christmas has become so commericalized anymore. No wonder no one likes Christmas anymore! I used to like it, not anymore!

Weekends

My weekend was "interesting". Well first to start things off, I heard Toys R Us was hiring, so I decided to hunt around for a job application. I thought I found it and when I took it home to fill out later, I seen all these things applying to the UK, and that's when comprehension kicked in full blast-- this was a job application for a Toys R Us in England! Somehow I totally overlooked the address on it, it was an application for a Toys R Us in Dartford, England! Talk about a serious blond moment. And then I heard about St. E's hiring so my dad printed out an application for it and I seen the address on it and it was for the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Mt. Vernon, New york. So somehow, me and my dad both printed out wrong job applications. He almost died laughing when he heard where the Toys R Us application was for. I even laugh at it just thinking about it. That's what you got to do, you can't get stressed out over something like that, I mean, it's so stupid it's funny. I was wiping my eyes I was laughing so hard at that. It's amazing what can happen, huh? This time, if I look for the Toys R Us application, I'm going to look it over instead of last time, my dad doesn't need any ammo to start laughing. This weekend was also my birthday. Friday night I went out with my mom and step-dad and sister for Chinese at this place near her house. Then Saturday night, my sister had to work and me, my step-dad, his mom and my mom went out for Chinese at this place on Glenway Ave, called Grand China. That place is good if you want Chinese food and to sit down and enjoy it. But my weekend, I spent laughing at that job application, sorry, it was cracking me up. My mom thought something was wrong with me because I kept laughing at everything, someone would say something funny, and there I'd go. I just find humor in everyday life, that's all. If Mrs. Thomas reads this, Hi! how are you today? I didn't really get that much, but I didn't really want that much for my birthday. I got a retro looking Beatles T-shirt with their picture on it for my birthday and I also got a CD, it was of Paul McCartney. He's a cool musician, and my aunt has a really huge crush on him!
