Face the Music: A Life Exposed: Paul Stanley

Yes, as I said in my post about being street legal as I passed my driving test, I bought the book with the above mentioned title as a reward for myself. I have finished the book and it was awesome. My mom thinks I'm so predictable for reading it while my sister looks at it as "Reading about your fantasy hard rock husband, I see?", lol!!!!

-I can't help but feel a little sorry for Paul. Growing up deaf in one ear, having to deal with ignorant people calling him names like "Stanley the one eared monster" and coming home to parents who weren't much better, like his dad who called him "Stanley fat a--". Poor guy. Turns out, he was bullied as a child and also, one day while taking a girl he knew home, he found out that her mother wouldn't let him in, only for the girl to tell him "I thought you were Italian, but turns out you're a Jew". That was his first taste of anti-Semitism. Also, unlike what some sites say, his birth name, according to this book, is Stanley Bert Eisen instead of Stanley Harvey Eisen. Not sure where the 'Harvey' came from. He also said that when he was younger, he was always very self conscious about his right ear, which is from a condition called microtia, which means the outer ear hasn't developed fully, leaving him completely deaf in his right ear. Also, not a lot of people know that his real name is Stanley Bert Eisen instead of Stanley Harvey Eisen as almost all sites suggest. Not to mention, he also seen a psychiatrist when he was a child to deal with the stress of having an older sister with mental problems

-Also, he played the Phantom of the Opera in a Toronto version of the play. It was there that he got a call from someone at a foundation called AboutFace, which helps people with facial deformities. She said she watched the play and never seen someone identify with the Phantom as much as he did. And because of that, he became the spokesperson for AboutFace. Some other things I never knew about him include having an older sister named Julia, who went into depression and started abusing drugs. Soon she had to be admitted into a mental hospital. One day when she was home and their parents were not, she suddenly went into a psychotic break and started chasing Paul with a hammer. He hid in his room, in a fetal position, crying, wanting his parents to come home while his sister was trying to break down the door with a hammer

Phantom of the Opera
-And throughout the years, because of his insecurities as a child, he was very defensive, afraid to let anyone get close to him. And then, along comes Pamela Bowen, an aspiring actress, with whom he fell in love. With her, they had Evan. But then he discovered both of them had fallen out of love and when they divorced, it hit him hard. He treasured the time he spent with his son, learning to cook food for him and trying to be a good dad, until one day, he met a practicing attorney named Erin Sutton. With her, he describes it as falling head over heels. Initially, he started bringing her around when Evan was with his mother. But then, he started having her and Evan meet in neutral locations and after a while, he started introducing her as a friend. After a while, they started showing affection towards each other. Paul didn't want to do this earlier on because the divorce was bad enough on Evan; he didn't want to trouble him further with a new person in his life. This just goes to show you just how sweet a guy Paul is. When they all vacationed together in Hawaii one year, his son asked him "Dad, where's she going to sleep?" and Paul replied "With me." In Nov, 2005, they got married. Gene was the only one not present. Paul didn't want someone who thought of marriage as an "institution" at a wedding.

Paul and his son Evan, who's now in college and met Jimmy Page, Paul's longtime idol
-He also talks about some of the songs and videos he's done for Kiss. He describes the videos for "(You Make Me) Rock Hard" and "Let's Put the X in Sex" as not being one of his finer moments because of how the videos look. Not to mention, in the "Sex" video, he had some kind of black leather corset thing on that gets practically ripped off of him by one of the models, who he thinks would have looked more appropriate in a Robert Palmer video and in the "Rock Hard" video, he had a chain mail shirt on, white spandex pants and here he was, running and jumping onto a trapeze, like some kind of circus act
Let's Put the X in Sex

(You Make Me) Rock Hard. I think he looks very handsome
-One day, while out in L.A. recording Hotter Than Hell, he got a tattoo at a local tattoo parlor and when he told his mom, she said "Oh Stan, now you can't be buried in a Jewish cemetery", referring to the ages old tradition that you can't be buried in a Jewish cemetery if you have body ink. He replied "Cut my arm off." Also, when he first met Gene, he thought Gene was condescending and a little arrogant, thinking such high opinions of himself (which must be no different than now, lol!). In addition to playing music, he also paints. He says this helps him keep calm and express emotions through a nonviolent way. Nowadays, all of Paul's kids, Evan, Colin, Emily and Sara Brianna, come to the Kiss concerts to see what Dad does for a living. Evan, when he was younger, even got to watch as his dad underwent makeup to become the Phantom of the Opera. He kept saying "I love you, Daddy". Paul wanted him to see it was the same person as always, but currently wearing makeup is all

I passed! I passed my driving test!!!!!!! I'm now street legal!!!!!!!!!

I'm now street legal! That's right! This morning, I took my driver's test and I passed! This girl is now street legal. All I have to do is go and get my lovely, newly updated license and I'm good to go!

And as a reward, I bought myself a book. I might as well say it- I caved. I bought the book Face the Music: A Life Exposed. I really want to read it! I can honestly see the look on my mom's face. She'll say "Well, I knew it wouldn't be long. I love you dearly, Caitlin, but you're so predictable". So, it's official: I lost the bet going on both here at my house and at work. Both my parents and sister bet I'd buy this within a day of it coming out and at work, they said 3 days. So, when they find out I bought it, yup, I lost the bet, lmao!! Besides, it was cheap- only $12 on Barnes and Noble, talk about awesome!

Sometimes I wish I were as beautiful as these women

Georgia May Jagger
-Some may not call her a beauty, but I think she is beautiful. That gap in her teeth is her trademark, just like the large lips are her dad's trademark. What's really strange is that every time I see a commercial for Rimmel London on TV, I see her. I love knowing that I know who the gap-toothed model on those commercials is. Although my mom says "Man, you could drive a truck through that gap!" Really mean, if u ask me! And my mom thinks she's not so pretty and when she finds out it's Mick Jagger's daughter, she says "Well, that isn't surprising; he's not too good looking himself"

Kate Winslet
-She's smart, beautiful and just a good actress. I really wish I had her beauty
Elizabeth Jagger
-Really hard to believe she's related to Georgia and that their dad is Mick Jagger. What makes it a little easier to believe is when you look at their lips! They both have the full lips their dad is known for. I really wish I were as pretty as her or her sister Georgia

I'M GOING TO SEE KISS AND DEF LEPPARD!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's right! In the post "All the more motivation to get my driving license" where I mentioned if I could swing it, I was going! Yup, this girl here is going to see Kiss and Def Leppard. Tickets were $171.99 and with venue fees being $20, it came out to be a little over $200. I'm never spending that much again, but it's going to be worth it! Sorry I forgot to do a post. I bought my ticket on the 21st of March, the day they went on sale for civilians. What I mean by this is that military personnel got first dibs on tickets, as I think it should be. For all they do, they should get first stab at tickets! Anywho, I'm going to see Kiss and Def Leppard. And I've had my ticket for a little over a month. Sorry I forgot to mention it, been a long few weeks at work, lol!!

Strangely enough, this is the wallpaper for my computer at work!

But anyway, like the title suggests: I'M GOING TO SEE KISS AND DEF LEPPARD! I'll upload pix if I get any and I will get some pix of Gene Simmons breathing fire, Paul Stanley riding a harness out over the audience, Phil Collen with his shirt off, showing his gorgeous bod and new tattoo and Rick Allen, better known as the Thunder God, pounding his drums!

Joe Perry takes to the streets to advertise the upcoming Aerosmith tour!

Joe Perry takes on graffiti to get the word out about Aerosmith touring!
Excited about the tour with Slash, Joe Perry takes to the streets to get the word out. April 8 is the official start date of this tour, judging from the art Joe is laying out. He starts out the clip "Hey, everybody. This is Joe Perry. A couple of days ago I tweeted that we were going out on the road this summer with Slash, and now it’s absolutely official. Tickets will be going on sale real soon. The name of the tour is ‘Let Rock Rule,’ and you’re gonna be hearing a little more of that coming up real soon. See you then"

Ace responds to Paul Stanley's anti-Semitic accusation

Let's see what Ace has to say!
Here's, yet again, another feud going on between current members of the band Kiss and previous members. This time, it's a response to accusations that Paul Stanley made to Ace Frehley about being Anti-Semitic

Ace simply says this "We say good things about each other and we say bad things about each other [in our memoirs], but it is what it is". "“It’s rock and roll. I mean, if all we did was pat each other on the back for every book, people would say, ‘That’s a boring book.’ They want to hear the dirt. I’ve got plenty of dirt"

Meanwhile, Peter Criss took a less calm approach to these accusations, saying he was not a racist, and that his favorite aunt was actually Jewish. Because when he was younger, he and his friends would pick on the Hasidic Jews around his neighborhood and when he found out one of his aunts, who happened to be his favorite aunts, was Jewish, he stopped it.

But Peter says he's not suing and Ace doesn't worry about it. He basically says they're still friends with each other, no matter what

Paul Stanley accuses Peter Criss and Ace Frehley of Anti-Semitic behavior

Yeah, that's right. Another Kiss-related feud. There's a lot of those happening lately...
In Paul Stanley's newly release bio, he points out that Ace Frehley and Peter Criss engaged in Anti-Semitic behavior sometimes

While it's no secret that Peter Criss and Ace Frehley abusing substances was poison to Gene and Paul, it's also no secret that Paul claims Peter and Ace were anti-Semitic (against Jewish people for those who may not know :D). Stanley said that Peter and Ace "felt powerless and impotent when faced with the tireless focus, drive and ambition of me and Gene. As a result, the two of them tried to sabotage the band — which, as they saw it, was unfairly manipulated by [us] money-grubbing Jews"

He also claims that Ace had a habit of collecting Nazi memorabilia, dressing as a Nazi, walking around and talking in a mock German accent and in the early days of Kiss, supposedly witnessed Peter mocking Chinese waiters at restaurants

Also, Peter and Ace were not the only ones on Paul's do-not-like-right-now list. His bandmate Gene Simmons was not invited to Paul's 2005 wedding to Erin Sutton because of his anti-marriage views. He told his fellow band mate "When you insult and demean people who get married and ridicule or dismiss the idea of marriage, you have no place at a wedding". But of course, Gene went on to marry later partner Shannon Tweed in 2011

Just another rock feud!

Why Paul Stanley told Slash to go F--- yourself
During the 1980s, Paul Stanley of Kiss wanted nothing more than to help struggling L.A. rock band Guns N' Roses

According to Stanley, in his new book Face the Music: A Life Exposed, he approached the rookie band at the beginning of their work on Appetite for Destruction. At first, looks didn't impress, with Stanley describing Izzy Stradlin as being unconscious, looking like he had drool coming out of his mouth and Slash as half comatose

After night two, trouble started brewing. "They weren’t happy with the guy mixing their sound", Stanley says.  "And Slash asked me out of the blue to help out. Decades later, Slash’s recollections of the night would be faulty at best. He liked to pretend I had dared to meddle with their sound"

He also adds "Immediately after my interactions with the band, I started to hear lots of stories Slash was saying behind my back — he called me gay, made fun of my clothes, all sorts of things designed to give him some sort of rock credibility at my expense. This was years before his top hat, sunglasses and dangling cigarette became a cartoon costume that he would continue to milk with the best of us for decades". Some would say this is ironic, considering that Paul is currently wearing makeup and costumes for the band Kiss. Sort of like, a pot calling the kettle black

Later on, Stanley says Slash called back. "You want me to help you get guitars after you went around saying all that s— about me behind my back?" His response was "“You know, one thing you’re going to have to learn is not to air your dirty laundry in public. Nice knowing you. Go f— yourself". But Slash has long since apologized and so has Stanley. Slash said he chalked his behavior that night up to arrogance

Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer weighs in on recent rock feuds!

Joey Kramer, drummer for Aerosmith, has a thing or two to say about some of the recent rock feuds occurring!
Kiss
-He responds to the issue of whether Kiss should play the R&R HOF ceremony with this statement. "I think people need to lighten up a little bit and not take things so goddamned seriously and make everything so important. It’s, like, hey, it’s life. S– happens. You’ve gotta roll with it and let’s just make the best of it and have fun. Problems and issues will always be there and they’ll never leave our side, so the object is to have a good time and make fun out of whatever we do. And those guys have had a very fruitful career. They’ve got nothing to complain about".

-On the issue of Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, he says this "You have to recognize the fact that there’s two other guys that have been in the band for the last 12 or 15 years,” conceded Kramer. “I mean, can you just ignore them? Is that fair? From my point of view, I think, basically, they should all play. And yeah, it’s only the original four that are getting inducted into the Hall Of Fame, but I think they should all play"

Guns N' Roses
-"The bottom line is this: it’s whether or not they really care about their fans and the people that made them and got them to where they were,” argued Kramer. “Because that’s really what it’s all about"

-He continued "Basically, because they have personal grievances with one another, everybody else is being held hostage and can’t hear the music that they love to play and they love to hear. So, you know, it’s not really fair,” he continued, adding a comment that might say something about how Aerosmith keeps things together: “You know, you can get to a point where you just deal with one another — you go on stage and do what you’ve gotta do and do your job. And then, you know, you don’t have to hang out, you don’t have to be buddies, you don’t have to have dinner together, you don’t have to, you know, be brothers. I mean, that’s nice — it makes it a whole lot better and easier. But I think it’s kind of unfair that they indulged their egos to the extent that they do"

Ozzy Osbourne worries about fellow Sabbath band member Tony Iommi

This is so sad. Ozzy is worrying about Tony's cancer. And to add, I'm reading that book about Tony Iommi, Iron Man: My Life Through Heaven and Hell with Black Sabbath. It's such a good book, and funny in some parts. He sort of tells it how it was!
"I always think cancer means death" Osbourne told the Toronto Sun. "I didn’t know anybody who’d recovered. My wife recovered from colon cancer and that was the first person I ever knew. But he just accepts it and gets on with it"

When Iommi was diagnosed, it was during the recording of 13, and it only slowed down recording, not completely stopping it. He was only undergoing chemo treatments and it was said that the treatments were finished in May 2012. Because, otherwise, Ozzy says Iommi is doing fine. "I mean it’s got to be worrying, but he’s doing fine I think, I hope,” Osbourne says. “I haven’t had one of them dark phone calls so I presume he’s okay. He’s unbelievable"

3 New Kiss songs I found I like

Like the title suggests, I have found 3 Kiss songs that I love. I actually started liking them after watching the video for them. They looked interesting on YouTube, judging from the little photo showing the video. So I watched them and love them. I now have those songs on my MP3 player. Here are those songs. The first two can be found on their Smashes, Thrashes and Hits album and the last one can be found on their Asylum album

Strangely enough, it's Paul Stanley singing lead on these songs. Hmm, how come Gene never sings? I'm pretty sure he probably has a good voice
