Oct. 11, 1983: Kiss performs first show with no makeup and costumes. Instead they wear regular clothes and still jam. The only one who had trouble adjusting to it was bass player Gene Simmons

But, Gene and Paul were the only original members to do the unveiling of the makeup. Original members Peter Criss departed in 1980, the year they brought Eric Carr in to play drums and Ace Frehley in 1982, the year they brought in Vinnie Vincent. The 70s were their prime, with head banging heavy metal songs and hard rock. But they fell from grace in the early 80s, with the lineup changes, experiments with concept albums and disco-influenced rock

Even when they released their 1982 album Creatures of the Night, which put them back in the hard rock spotlight, hardly anyone noticed
