Mother Daughter Traitor Spy by Susan Elia MacNeal

Susan Elia MacNeal is the same author of the highly successful WWII-era Maggie Hope series. Here is another book she has written that I love. This one is based on a true story of an actual mother-daughter duo who destroyed Nazi support plans in Los Angeles during WWII

Summary

-It's June 1940. Veronica Grace has just graduated from Hunter College. Veronica and Violet Grace are a Navy widow and daughter living in Brooklyn, New York. Veronica is set to work for a woman's magazine called Mademoiselle as a writer, her dream job. But her dreams are dashed when it's discovered that she had an affair with a married man. The wife threatens to block her from a prestigious career in publishing. Luckily Veronica's uncle Walter has come to the rescue. He offers Veronica and Violet a chance to come to Los Angeles. While there, the mother-daughter duo take up jobs to bring in income. Only later on do the duo realize that there are American Nazi supporters in Los Angeles and Veronica is doing dictation for one of them

The two are approached by a government agent and asked to go undercover and spy on this group. But when the news of the Pearl Harbor bombing spreads through the US, things go from bad to worse as the war escalates. Any wrong move could cost them everything, including their own lives
