Summary
-Based on the book of the same name, it tells the disturbing details of a mission in Somalia on Oct. 3, 1993. On this date, nearly 100 U.S. Army Rangers, commanded by Capt. Mike Steele, were dropped into Mogadsishu in Somalia to capture the top two lieutenants of a Somalian warlord

-Josh Hartnett, Kim Coates, Ewan McGregor, Tom Sizemore previously worked in a movie about war, Pearl Harbor
-40 of the actors playing Rangers had to attend actual training for the movie. They went to Fort Benning in Georgia to attend a two week crash course on becoming Rangers
-On the last day of training, each actor anonymously received a letter slipped under their door, thanking them for their hard work, with the message, "tell our story true", signed with the names of the soldiers lost in the Somalia firefight
-A lot of the actors who played the American soldiers are actually from other countries. This includes: Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremmer (Scottish), Eric Bana (Australian), Kim Coates (Canadian), Ioan Gruffudd (Welsh), Jason Issacs, Matthew Marsden, Orlando Bloom (British), Zeljko Ivanek (Slovenian), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Danish)
