- One of their more popular songs is Sunday Bloody Sunday, which is about all the innocent civilians being murdered during the Irish troubles. They used this song to campaign against the IRA(Irish Republican Army)'s efforts to fuel money into fighting. Eventually the IRA threatened U2 by saying that if they continued using the song, they'd be kidnapped. U2 went ahead anyway
- Their 1984 album Unforgettable Fire was inspired by paintings of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings
- At the Live Aid concert in 1985, Bono was there to help raise money and it suprised everyone when Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones showed up and started singing with him. The concert raised money to send to Ethiopia who was suffering a severe drought, and during the concert, Bono went down into the audience.
- They were the 4th band to appear on the front of Time Magazine, the others were The Beatles, The Band, The Who
- Have the most Grammy awards, 22
- The show One Tree Hill is taken from the song One Tree Hill from their album The Joshua Tree
