Miami Vice
-American TV show produced by Michael Mann for NBC.
-Series starred Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas as 2 Miami Metro-Dade detectives working undercover in Miami named Sonny Crocket and Ricardo Tubbs.
-The show drew heavily upon the 1980s New Wave culture and music. Became known for it's use of music and visual effects.
-Michael Mann made a film version of the show, which was released on July 28, 2006
Production
Keeping with the show's title, most episodes featured a focus on combatting drug trafficking, prostitution. Episodes more often than not end in a big gunfight, killing criminals before they can be apprehended.
This show also made use of music from the 1980s, some of which was by musicians who were becoming popular at the time.

-Many episodes were filmed in the South Beach section of Miami, which was heavily destroyed by poverty and crime. Street corners were so bad that production crew actually decided to repaint the exterior walls before filming.
-Miami Vice is given some credit to support the preservation of Miami's famous Art-Deco architecture in the mid 1980s-early 1990s.

-Had a huge impact on men's clothing. They popularizedm if not invented, the T-shirt under Armani jacket style, and popularized Italian men's clothing in the US.
-Don Johnson's style on the show consisted of an Italian sport coat, T-shirt, white linen pants and slip on tennis shoes
-Even his unshaven appearance sparked a minor fashion trend.
Most of the colors of clothing the 2 guys wore were in warm, pastel colors, such as pink, blue, green, peach, fuschia.
-Some of the designers behind the fashion include Hugo Boss, Gianni Versace, Vittorio Ricci.
-Johnson also boosted the popularity of Ray Ban sunglasses
Cars
There were 2 best known cars used on the show, both made by Italian sports car company Ferrari, the Daytona and Testarossa editions. During seasons 1 and 2 and 2 episodes of the 3rd season, Don Johnson drove a black 1972 Ferrari Daytona Spyder 365 GTS/4.
