-In Sept. 2009, John announced he wanted to adopt a 14 month old boy named Lev from an AIDS orphanage in the Ukraine. But he was denied because of his marital status and age. He is the godfather to Sean Lennon, David Beckham's sons Brooklyn and Romeo, Elizabeth Hurley's son Damian Charles, and daughter of Seymour Stein.



AIDS Foundation
-Has been involved in this charity ever since the death of Ryan White and Freddie Mercury.
-In 1986, he paired with Dionne Warwick, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder to record the single That's What Friends Are for, and all profits were donated to the American Foundation for AIDS Research.



Activism
-On April 1, 2010, John joined Cyndi Lauper in the launch of her Give a Damn campaign to bring awareness of discrimination of the LGBT community as part of her True Colors Fund.
