In the Best Rock Album category, Blink-182 is up for California, Cage the Elephant is up for Tell Me I'm Pretty, Gojira is up for Magma, Panic! At the Disco is up for Death of a Bachelor, Weezer is up for a self-titled album.

David Bowie did get a nod for Best Alternative Music Album. Sadly, his competition for Best Rock Performance is Jack White feat. Beyoncé on "Don't Hurt Yourself", "Joe (Live from Austin City Limits) by the Alabama Shakes, "The Sounds of Silence", Disturbed's cover of the Simon and Garfunkel classic and "Heathens" by Twenty One Pilots
