-Co-founded band Atomic Mass with future Def Lep member Pete Willis
-Was a football star in his teens, and was even asked to join the Sheffield United team, for which he played two years, and was also a fan of Sheffield Wednesday team
-Is called "Sav" to avoid confusion between him and drummer Rick Allen
-Him and Joe Elliot are the only original members of the band, and the two of them, including Allen, are the only ones who performed on every album
