Quiet Riot
It has been 30 years since Quiet Riot's Metal Health album was released. This debut album of theirs introduced mainstream America to the sounds of L.A. metal in 1983
This became the first metal album to take the top spot on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart. But, as it's tradition in the world of rock, the band spiraled downward into a world fueled by drugs, alcohol, ego and money
Most fans have not heard of this band before Metal Health. But they did have a young guitarist named Randy Rhoads, who went on to join Ozzy Osbourne. The lineup changed, with Franki Banali on drums and Rudy Sarzo on bass and Carlos Cavazo on guitar
The song "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)" launched these guys into the attention of every '80s metal fan out there. Kevin DuBrow said that their manager at CBS was riding the coattails of fame on Quiet Riot's behalf
On Nov. 27, 2007, DuBrow was found dead in his apartment in Las Vegas. It was later discovered he had died from a cocaine overdose. In Sept. 2010, Franki Banali said that a new lineup of Quiet Riot would hit the road
I'm a girl born in the wrong decade. I belong in the 1960s or the 1970s in my opinion. I bleed tie dye, my theme music is anything 1960s rock or 1970s rock or metal. I'm a hippie through and through. But also a hippie who loves old metal music. I believe that violence never solves anything, so why resort to it to solve problems? With all the wars the world has seen, there should be a clue somewhere in there!
